String change last night, (long overdue), on this one...
I use .10s on almost all my electrics. I favour Dr. Ducks... I bought two dozen sets a few years ago, I'm down to only a pair of sealed sets remaining.
I've got at least three gats that want to be freshed-up. Most others get less time so when I do grab 'em, they don't feel deaded-out.
I'm pretty rigorous about hand-washing prior to picking up any guitar. Wasn't always that way and it taught me how it really extends string life by quite a bit. Don't often wipe down after though, that would help even more.
Finding a bit more guitar funtime lately, the Special has been up as "first grab" for a few days. Decided needed to tap a fret last night, so a perfect time to swap wires. I try a good tap with the rubber hammer before getting all jiggy with the files and/or emery cloth, or more serious leveling.
Wasn't a terrible buzz, more a sustain killer on the B and E string bends so you gotta get after that. Solved for now.
