What are you doing right now?

What the heck is Bump.

A "bump" is a post made just to bring the thread back to the top of the New Posts or Recent Posts page.

Threads are listed in chronological order, with the most recent listed first. The order is based on how recently someone posted in the thread.

The idea is that a post is made to "bump" the thread to the head of the line.

Well, nuts. How is a subambassador of ignorance and spelling and finding answers on nut forums spsd 2 figure out 1%? I know one on a Harley when I see one . . .

Don't sweat it. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks here who are willing to help.

BTW, that is a BIRD DOG, and it hunts. Guess not many guitarists hunt 4 legged animals. Wolfbird is cool !! What the heck is Bump. A bump on my head? A speed bump in my attention span? A bump in fretboard? A bump in the road to my progress? True, all of the above.

Bump = a quick reply to a post to move it to the front of the thread...

Hey, what did I say wrong? Have been offline for2 days.

I don't know what you said, but I'm guessing no one actually went in and changed something you said. There are computer algorithms running in the forum software that automatically detect when something is said that violates predetermined parameters, such as foul language. The algorithm detects the statement and replaces it with the EDITED comment.

Forum edits...
Auto: “****edited for foul language****”
Manual: has a little, “last edited by moderator” in the lower right area of the post.

I believe, but could be mistaken...of course.

That has messed me up SO much. Not so much here, but other places worse. Old ones in new ones, threads in oldest first. I won't even look at the date, and post something and somebody invariably jumps my . . . not bones. And nobody say that 3 letter "n" word again, coz I had to leave the room to keep my hands off the computer !!! I could write a book with that in every sentence and not say nuthing. It just tripped a trigger. ROFL

Oh no. This was quite human, including threat. I really PO'd somebody. I have been apologizing all day, trying to figure it out. Six hours later I figured it out. I think. It was not intentional. I am not that way. Except when it comes to people messin w/mah birddog.

People get really mad when you reply to something from 2015. I learned that in bump school. I have been doing that (accident-not looking at dates) for 3 years, and ya'll are the first ones to explain it to me instead of just screaming at me. Guess I was part of the problem, coz that would help screw up the order, too, right?

Skinning a cat, who just jumped on my Williams 88.
First word learned "NO"; second, name; third "Get away from my guitar !!"
Why do cats understand human, and humans don't understand cat?

To start with, I don't understand why you quote your own posts? The quote feature is usually designated for replying to another member and quoting what they said. Quoting yourself appears as though you are talking to yourself. Is this why you joined us here to talk to yourself?

I don't know what I'm doing. Obiously. I've asked this question (not of you, I guess), why do I get a reply place on my own stuff instead of a new post opportunity. Sorry, I AM trying to learn.
