Very nice, but what's the deal with the soot effect on that green electrolytic. Is that a replacement high power resistor hanging in the air above it? For resistors mounted like that I like to slip a ceramic tube over each leg then pull it down tight to the board. Less chance of it moving about that way.

Cleaning solvent got at the markings on the caps. I’ve got a few smudges, but fortunately only cosmetic.
That’s a great idea with the ceramic tubes. That’s the original resistor, mounted as intended by the original pcb designer. It does not sit too close to anything when it’s mounted up there, and it gets plenty of room for heat dissipation. The board level is too crowded for it to function efficiently if it was mounted much lower. A small sacrifice for squeezing an 18watt superlite-ish circuit in to a Valve Jr chassis.
 
It looks like the stereo/mono jack plate switch may be the culprit. The one in the Marshall 4x12 cabinet. It’s probably just a filthy contact, but I’m not having any luck with cleaning it out, and the plate is crumbling on every corner.:(

I give up on that Piece Of Junk jack plate. It has seen better days, and is crumbling apart.
So now I await one of these:

I could easily bodge something together on my own. I’ve done it a couple of times before.
This just seems right to me though. It will require some slight modification to the cab, but nothing huge. I will have to enlarge the existing mounting hole about 1/2 inch vertically. It gives me the same options, and switching is handled by the cliff jacks.

LOL. Old stinker. I was 7. BUT, listening to it when I was 17. Have always liked music "behind the times". You know, for example stuff like Beyonce (never heard her, don't bother with the new). My fix everything is Bruuuce or Buddy Holly, but Bruuuce isn't so good for sleep, except his laid back new stuff. I prefer '70s.

Hello. I haven't been here for a while coz I messed up something. Either content or computer !! Spent 2 hours working on it and I fixed it !! What in the world did I get edited? And BTW, are you opposed to giving out the advice? Sorry if I did something wrong. Somebody needs to tell me so I don't do again 3 times. Please.

Finger picking is very stylistic and personal. I would encourage you to experiment with it because it can really open a lot of new possibilities.

There are also a lot of great videos on this subject available. John 5 has some great tutorials on finger picking and I would recommend you check out his videos, and other tutorials on this topic.

Slide is tricky, but rewarding. There is a major difference in fretting a note with your finger and with a slide bar.

With your finger, the note will remain unchanged anywhere between two frets.

With a slide, a mere fraction of an inch of movement changes the pitch, and this takes a lot of practice to gain proficiency. Additionally, many slide songs employ a guitar tuned to an open chord while others use standard tuning.

Do a search on You Tube for "slide guitar tunings."

Once you have found a comfortable slide for your hand, start working with a tuner to train your ear with regards to how to come up to pitch. Just start out on one string and pluck a note, then slide up to that note again, several octaves away.

Again, there are many tutorials available.

Have you heard "Bad To The Bone" by George Thorogood and The Destroyers??? Like him or not, the song is filled with lots of basic slide technique.

You might find a tutorial on this song interesting too.

BTW, that is a BIRD DOG, and it hunts. Guess not many guitarists hunt 4 legged animals. Wolfbird is cool !! What the heck is Bump. A bump on my head? A speed bump in my attention span? A bump in fretboard? A bump in the road to my progress? True, all of the above.

OK, thanks a lot. I have FINALLY read it. Now I'm totally intimidated. Guthrie Govan said when he's playing, and wants to play slide, he doesn't want to screw around with all that stuff, so he just pushes a credit card up against the nut {OMG it's that word again} to raise the action and goes to it. So, I'm all like, well, if it's good enough for HIM . . . that ain't gonna work, huh?!? Only one more question, I promise :cool:. The guy with 150 guitars or so on YT that gives lessons, Scott Grove, seems relatively sensible and suitably insane, says screw theory (you know, the part where my brain hurts) just learn the Major Scale and screw the rest. What do you think of that advice, now that I'm learning minors?--not too late. Thx Roberto
 
Well, nuts. How is a subambassador of ignorance and spelling and finding answers on nut forums spsd 2 figure out 1%? I know one on a Harley when I see one . . .
