What Are You Doing Right Now?

Today I stayed inside mostly. Yesterday however, I am still working on my DIY shed
8 x 14 1/2 x about 12ft high. I would have made it wider and longer but there is no more space available.

Yesterday, I put up the high bay light. Not complicated but it’s 4 ft. With 6 -T8 fluorescent tubes. It’s been in storage for 6 years( brand new) I wanted to hang it somewhat properly.
I got some 1/8 wire easily bent into a 90 degree angle and then I bent hooks on the end. Installed hooks in the rafters and used single chain on each end. I will get a pic tomorrow.

I thought after all that , the hardest part was hanging it up there. I turned it on and I was bummed. It’s not bright ? It tricked me, these bulbs have mercury in them . Not sure how that works but the box says that it will operate at 0 degrees. They did warm up and are very bright.

I had to look up the why mercury?
How mercury is involved

  • When electricity flows through the tube, it excites the mercury atoms.
  • Excited mercury emits ultraviolet (UV) light, not visible light.
  • The UV light strikes the phosphor coating, causing it to fluoresce (glow) and produce visible light.

Why mercury is used

  • Mercury is extremely effective at producing UV light at low energy.
  • This makes fluorescent tubes much more energy-efficient than incandescent bulbs.
  • Only a very small amount is used (typically a few milligrams).

Uh

I made a couple neon art things, but they were fragile and long gone. I would love to do more, but is is difficult for a 'hobby' neon artist. I chalk it up to a good experience.

Currently I am in bed reading (flipping between The Hidden Reality and Star Trek Day Of Honor) with my beautiful white cat who has one green eye and one blue eye.

Greeting from Through The Blood!

I was able to stand and play for a couple hours today, so we had our first practice in at least 2 months ! I won't say it was perfect, but we all played right in the pocket! It was great to see the guys and make some noise! So great!
