What Amp Do You Use The Most

I plugged in my Marshall JTM ST20H into my Astoria Classic’s Creamback today. I’ve owned all of the Studio models except for 20 watt JCM800. The JTM20 is the best of the bunch in my opinion. It sounds big and full with plenty of bottom end plugged into any cab that I own.

I run a J-Rockett Dude (my favorite OD) in front of the amp and I can get any level of gain that I would need.

Hi guys. I was out but I'm back. I'm glad many Marshall forum membres come to this familiar place. Glad to be here again. As all you know I'm mad for Marshall amps and mainly I use Marshall always. Lately the amp I use the most it's a SV20H that I moded to ST20 specs. I'm impressed how good It sounds. I think Marshall did a great job with this Studio series amp.

Here using It with an Astoria Custom creamback combo speaker and a LP Standard

They say the JCM600 is a great secret amp you can buy cheap, never even heard of them.

I picked up a 600 a while ago for a great deal. It's a wonderful amp. If I didn't have so many I would have kept it. At the time I just had a bunch of 100 watters and one watters and that little 30 w range was a nice change.

Sorry, I missed this last night. That is my Origin cab, I didn't even make the connection until you mentioned it

Agreed and I believe that I’ve seen a Jubilee in a small box. That cab was designed to hold a small box JTM45 head.

The 2553. I'd love one o those. But with the 2 I have now....

It's not a bad amp, certainly.



Some would say that's due to the clipping diodes... I just find the Jubes a bit 'cold' sounding. They have the bark, even the roar, but not the warmth - to me that is.

I find my jubes thick and satisfying (that's what she said ) and with that responsive EQ can do a ton. I live in tne Lead channel.

Yes, it sort of 'thickens up' in the higher gain territory a bit. Some people can work wonders with them. If I played with more gain, I'd probably get on better with them.

Also have the 4210 & Haze15 hooked up in stereo on either side of the couch.

Got a Lead15H on a 2x12 next to the recliner.

I mostly play Champ like objects around the house when I plug in, definitely I'm more of an acoustic player though. I have a Ward 5F1, a Vibro Champ XD and a couple Lead 12s that get played here.

This Ward Champ is apparently very rare, the guy was a Fender CS master builder and made some amps too, when I Google it the only one comes up is my amp. It's a kickass little amp once I got the right speaker in it, Jensen P8R.if you ain't played through a proper tweed Champ, they're very acoustic, the whole cab sings.

Even if it definitely does not look like it, it just does sound great at lower volumes. Shure, it's 100 Watts, but it has an excellent Master Volume.

I’m still messing with speakers for the Jubilee. I’ve tried two G12H-30 Anniversary speakers, a Green back and a Mesa C90 (big wattage mismatch), a Greenback and a G12-H30 Anniversary. I didn’t like any of these speaker combinations in this cab. Those were all 8 ohm speakers running at 16 ohms.

To my surprise, I only had one 16 ohm speaker stashed away in the music room closet. That speaker is a Scumback M75. The lone Scumback speaker sounds better than all of the other pairs of speakers that I’ve tried.

So I ordered a used 16 ohm Creamback to go with the Scumback speaker. I’m hoping that this combination works well.
Both of these are some of my favorite speakers with a Marshall.
