What’s on the Grill

My wife’s sister is here for a couple days. BBQ wings on tap for tonight. Grilled then slathered with sauce and into a pan in the oven at 185 degrees all afternoon. Get them all gooey and fall apart tender. Yum.

They made the rule after I moved in. Almost everyone had a grill on the balcony until the fire inspector said no go and made everybody get rid of them. I can't afford to move or I would.
I get the codes. Most people are responsible and wouldn’t have an issue. But you’ve got that one guy that has no business playing with fire. The building codes are for him. The rest of you have to suffer.

It's because the buildings are all wood frame. I get it, but why it wasn't enforced until I moved in is a mystery to me. And no it wasn't me, I hadn't even bought my grill yet.

Can you use a grill somewhere other than the balcony - parking lot, common lawn area kinda thing?
I had a little electric grill a long time ago that I used in the kitchen of an apartment that didn't even have a balcony.

Yes I could do that, but there are several reasons why it's not practical. Nowhere to store it for starters, I can't have it on my balcony at all and there's no place else to put it. Then if I did set it up it would be far away from my apartment, I'd be running up and down the stairs and across the parking lot bringing everything I would need back and forth. I could go on and on about how it would be too much of a PITA to make it worth my while. I don't think an electric grill would be practical either since when I grill I grill a whole meal. I can set off the smoke detector just frying a hamburger in a pan in my little apartment.
