I tried it out, and it couldn’t even win a TV trivia game, let alone hold down a job. Seriously, this isn’t anything like organic intelligence. We have nothing to fear. Yet.

That came years after the Hitchhiker’s Guide book and BBC Series. The chess computer “Deep Thought” was named after the computer from “The Guide.” There were several more books in the series, as well a BBC television and radio series, and a film. All of which are excellent.

It was originally intended to spoof science fiction. Instead it was highly embraced, loved, and often quoted by its fans. I left several Douglas Adam’s quotes in the “quote” thread. Before he wrote the Hitchhiker’s Guide, he was a writer for Dr. Who.
