Welcome to the future

DeepSeek is a joke. All it does it produce more wrong info (what idiot A.I. programmers call “imagination”) faster at a lower cost than ChatGPT. I tried it out, and it couldn’t even win a TV trivia game, let alone hold down a job. Seriously, this isn’t anything like organic intelligence. We have nothing to fear. Yet.
You could ask Deep Thought instead. It will give you an erroneous answer such as 42.

Nostradomas and Orwell alike both failed to predict and provide us with fair warnings about Artificial Intelligence. How could they not see that coming?

That DeepSeek announcement wiped $650 BILLION in market cap off Nvidia’s worth. Claiming that they taught it for $6 million. Turns out they had bought over a billion dollars of Nvidia chips used for the training.

Ironic. Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy was an SNL thing that also contemplated the meaning of life.
That came years after the Hitchhiker’s Guide book and BBC Series. The chess computer “Deep Thought” was named after the computer from “The Guide.” There were several more books in the series, as well a BBC television and radio series, and a film. All of which are excellent.

It was originally intended to spoof science fiction. Instead it was highly embraced, loved, and often quoted by its fans. I left several Douglas Adam’s quotes in the “quote” thread. Before he wrote the Hitchhiker’s Guide, he was a writer for Dr. Who.
