We found our Retirement Home

Congrats Don O!!!!! Always nice when you get something you really like! That's a big spread you have there! Retirement will be good for you , I see you will have many projects to keep you busy. That's a beautiful place you have there!! Retirement is the best job I ever had, I'm sure you will say the same thing. Hey you must be down the road from Rob you guys will be able to do some jamming, that will be a good time for you to get out that slick Godin guitar and get at it LOL.

Thanks all. We're excited. We take possession on the 10th. Then we spend the winter months getting the Anaheim Hills place ready to sell and by next summer I'm working on my practice studio. My biggest worry in the new place is bears :run:

got some timing issues yet..its bittersweet in a way..the lil business i built is really kicking..and the buyer will reap the real monetary benefits but think would rather hit golf balls over the pond & jam all day..and of course burn stuff...yah !! always wanted a tractor to just dig & rearrange. stuff...hope it doesn't sell till late October...told the Mrs//we can build a ramp & jump the pond..wee hee..def a go kart track around the whole place
OH YEAH!!!! some good swampneck mud hole fun!!!

Very few bears to contend with up there, Don. I had a few black bears who would wander past our home each morning and never caused any problems. We lived very high up on a hillside far away from everything.

Generally, you want to freeze all meat scraps in ziplocs and toss them out the morning of your trash day. That alone will help with your average critters, such as raccoons and foxes, from rummaging through your trash for a tasty treat.

Another great thing that works well is to buy a bottle of Fabuloso cleaner. It's a purple liquid with a very pungent floral aroma available everywhere. I used to saturate a couple of paper towels with Fabuloso and leave them in the top of the trash can. This fragrance is super-ultra-strong and is most unpleasant to rodents and critters.

That's really about all you need to do in order to be predator-safe up here in the woods.

The big problems come from city dwellers, who host big cookout parties, and leave a 55 gallon trash can full of meat scraps for a week between trash pickups. They dont realize how that attracts animals, who otherwise, wouldn't venture onto your property at all.
