That Jupiter is awesome! Looks like if you set the exposure lower, the moons might disappear but you should get cloud detail. Use the +/- dial. Great little camera!!
Also, use digital zoom sparingly or if taking stills, not at all. Can crop it later which is the same thing but you have control over it afterwards.
Well done!!

If I may, the star ones are out of focus thus the round foggy look. They should be pinpoints. Very hard to focus on such, perhaps if it has a manual focus just set it to infinity!!

OK camera buffs, I just purchased a Nikon Coolpix P1000 with 3000mm optical zoom and an additional 3000mm digital zoom. With a total of 6000mm this is the most zoom offered on a point and click camera. Below is a link to my website where I uploaded these videos. Please take a look into space with me...

So, let me ask...what is a good camera for recording things like Youtube videos?

Excellent question Smitty, unfortunately I do not know a lot about all brands of cameras. I bought this one specifically for the extreme zoom capabilities. If you are just going to be taking video from close by, any video recording camera should work.

I spent 25 years in photo retail but not overly up on current models.
If you mean YouTube for band stuff?
I go 4k and then downsize later so it starts with very good quality. I think a still camera with video ability is best. A video camera tends to have poorer stills but a good still will have excellent video. Maybe a PM and I can get budget etc.
I find the sound surprisingly good for live video with mine.

Does it have good macro function?

Good advice.

I'm thinking not necessarily YouTube for band stuff. That will be more the purview of our band leader.

I'm thinking primarily close-in work where the camera may be only a few feet from me for my own YouTube channel.
