Wanted: 7.25 Radius Stratocaster Neck...

See...there's the rub, I'm not about speed or any of that. I'm about a nice clear tone and some Blues or the like...

Here is the sound that's the very sweetest to my ears! If you are impatient skip to :38

Go to 12:42 on this one...he's playing the Strat at this point.

I'm not sure that sounds like a Strat to me in the first video. And when he plays the song in the Pompeii vid he's on a Les Paul (which incidentally sounds nicer to my ears than when he's on the Strat later on).

Are you sure the Jackson is a 9.5”?

Even my cheapo import Dinky has a 12” - 16” compound radius neck.
I stand corrected -- yes 12-16 compound

I was in JIMMYS VINTAGE MUSIC today (the home of the Devil--Im sure of it) and LOTS -- LOADS -- TONS of vintage yummy gear--- I spent my lunch hour fondeling Fender Strats-- Duo Sonics-- Mustangs-- Teles and even a MUSICMASTER (65 circa I believe) and the radius from vintage to modern -- short scale to regular-- truly --- made no damn difference--- each was unique in its own right and each had its own plus and minus list-- but all were fun

I did not really NOTICE a big change or -- EWH I cant PLAY that 7.25 radius -- I MUST HAVE A 9 -- or what ever-- no-- its bunk -- whooie I say -- Bulshakaka
A well set up gutiar plays well -- regardles of all that stuff

I am bothered by FAT ARSE thick necks -- but other than that --they are all groovy babay YEAH!

I can give you an example of how this affects my playing. When I am on a .951" or thicker neck, my fingers bend very naturally onto the fretboard. I have played a 4 hour set, with a 10 minute break on the hour, with no fatigue. When I play a thin neck, I have to curl my fingertips back towards my knuckles to make firm contact. When I do, I feel tension across the back of my hand. My playing is less fluid, more strenuous and I get a lot of fatigue in my hand.

My middle finger on my left hand is 3.650" from the edge of the palm to the tip and the fingertip is 1.875" wide. I can almost hide a dime by just placing my fingertip straight down onto it. My gloves are size 13. This is why i am always leaning towards wider necks with increased string spacing and thickness.

While I can play my Fender Thin-'C' profile, I find that my dexterity really suffers and I begin to get very self-conscious and it's all downhill from there, not to mention that fatigue starts setting in.

So, I can assure you that Thick & Wide for me makes a real and tangible difference in my playing...

I’ve got the Blackmore version.

It’s scalloped only where leads are often played.

It fades in and out, from about 5th fret(high pitched side), to 21st fret. It’s fully scalloped all the way across from 9th to about 17th fret.
I took to it immediately.
