Wanted: 7.25 Radius Stratocaster Neck...

I don't know how you play that thing with a 7.25" radius. My 1987 Squirecaster has a 9.5" radius and it's unbearable to play.

I got it out last night just for fun and I couldn't figure out how I played it all those years.

I grabbed my horseshoe snips and immediately yanked out all the frets, then took my 12" radius block and worked the fretboard into a 12" radius.

I gotta pick up some of the super tiny #6230 Fender FireWire today for it...

Man, that neck bugged me!!!

I know that John Mayer's PRS Silver Sky Stratocaster has a 7.25" radius fret board and that there are no issues with fretting out on that guitar.

I had several 7.25 radius teles over the years-- I liked the necks--

as long as its not Louisville slugger thick -- Im in ....radius schmadius-- I can suck on ANY level! lol

seriously -- I never care or pay attention-- the guitar feels as it feels-- why get hung up on these numbers man.

I play guitar a few minutes-- swap to bass-- long scale-- then maybe a short scale -- its all just numbers man
T-60 is a 12" radius--- Jacksons a 9.5.....Gibosnons are -- er what ever -- just play that thing!

Step and a half bends mute out on a tight radius...if you listen to the second Hotel California solo I posted, you can hear how much more dynamically I play when I am comfortable and dig my tone.

The "numbers," to me, just help me quantify what's most comfortable.

I have a Fender MIM Classic Series '72 Telecaster Custom with a 7.25 radius neck. I love the neck. I have zero issues playing anything on this neck.

Those vintage Fender necks feel really awkward to me....it's now a very comfortable 12" Gibson-esque radius...

See...there's the rub, I'm not about speed or any of that. I'm about a nice clear tone and some Blues or the like...

Here is the sound that's the very sweetest to my ears! If you are impatient skip to :38

Go to 12:42 on this one...he's playing the Strat at this point.

Good guitarist. I've only really ever heard "On The Turning Away" from him and his work on that song is phenomenal.

Mine as well!
