I did some work on the Derek Trucks SG today. I got the second patent sticker pickup in the mail, so I pulled out the OX4 Hot Duane set and put the vintage Gibson puppies in there. They measure about the same (around 7.6 kΩ), and seem to be about the same age. I thought the one I got today would have orange bobbin wire, but it is copper, just like the first one I got. This means that they are from 1963-1965, before the orange wire (and the T-Tops) was introduced. Again, it is too late in the evening to fire them up, so it will have to wait. But I tested them on the workbench through the 1W Marshall battery amp, so at least I know they work!
After the pups were in place I pulled out the 2018 and checked the setup (because I wanted things to be about the same on the Derek Trucks. I changed strings to .10s on the 2018 earlier today, and I put a set of the same on the DT. They feel pretty much identical when I play them, apart from the DT being a bit heavier than the 2018. They are both supposed to be heritage cherry, but the DT is noticeably darker. Both pretty sweet, though.
So, here they are, "Derek" and "Dickey" (yes, my Les Paul Goldtop goes by the name "Duane"):
