JUST look at that CHECKING -- you cant FAKE that ---- that right there is 57 (yes thats FIFTY SEVEN) years of life on this rock --- of broken headstock -- of some weasel HACKING a set of Schaller "P" bass pups into it------of ME slapping a HUGE DIMARRZZIO MUDBUCKER and asking Drumoid to wire in a mini switch.....57 years of bar duty--- some DOUCHENOZZLE slapping a sticker on it ---late nights -- and garage bands -- and car back seats.......it didnt come with a case --- no one cared enough to put this in the CASE --- toss it on the floor board of the truck and lets go .........

Look at the bridge --- WTF is going on with that (yes its crooked) -- but -- crooked in EXACTLY the right way to make all four strings INTONATE perfectly!!!!!-- its sheer MADNESS and pure perfection all in one ------ it plays like velvet and SOUNDS --- like no other EB on the planet!

its mean -- its UGLY (look at the hatchet job on the pickguard) its brutal-------- and when you pull THIS OUT -------- everyone in the room knows ------- YOUR THE BASS PLAYER -- and your probably a little "off" so avoid eye contact and pray he doesn't go mental -------

A lovely monstrosity!

Just came back from a trip to the post office to pick up the guitar. So far, so good! It looks great. The headstock repair is very well done. Other than the repair I can't find anything to put my finger on; not even small details. The fretwork is great, no blemishes in the finish, all in all a great guitar. Now, the bevels are not as deep as on a '61, and it deserves a wide-bevel pickguard, tall pickup rings and reflector knobs (and knob pointers!), but those are details. All ads show the guitar without the poker chip, but it is included in the case with all 2018 Gibsons, so I put it on right away. First impression is really good. 2018 seems to be a very nice year for the Gibson SG. The case is very nice too. My first brown Gibson case! And the sweet smell of vanilla essence lingers in the living room. It came with a strap and a "Leatherman" adjustment tool. Pretty nice stuff.

It plays like butter, the setup done by the store tech suits me very well. It came with .09s, though, so I'll change the strings and check intonation when I have a bit more time. It's too late in the evening now, so I won't be able to plug it in today, but I can hardly wait to give the Burstbucker 61R and T set a spin tomorrw.

It's dark, so the light is not good for pictures, but here are a couple:

Thats:) what I call the Antique look.

First impression playing it plugged is pretty good too. Sounds spanky and clear. Very easy to find a good balance between the neck and bridge pickups. Haven't played it very loudly yet, and only clean, but so far so good. Still sporting the .09s it was delivered with, though. I need to swap them for .10s, or maybe .11s since I'll most likely be playing slide on this one.

Looks lovely, a really nice cherry you've got there. The locking tuners and 61s are a nice feature on the 2018 too. Pretty much a perfect SG you have there, Gahr.

Many folks have had good experiences with the 2018 SGs.

Yeah, I was REALLY lucky there. I discovered the guitar was on sale purely by chance, and the Les Paul Junior was sold within two hours after I put it up. Seems like Gibson are back on track with the 2017-2019 models.

Nice to know that this new acquisition is working out for you. +1 on installing some Reflectors.
Reflectors have been ordered, along with a white switch tip. Getting a wide-bevel pickguard is pretty expensive, so that will have to wait a little while.
