Uncovered pickups in an LP

That is cool and different. I remember someone doing that here. Was it you?
Not I Sir.
But I've seen em' and they do look quite nice.
Also protects the the sides of the coils from picking assault.

Mates,

I have a guitar husk in the LP style coming soon. I have a choice of pups to put in them. I have more uncovered than covered available, but I have always thought that uncovered HBs in an LP look odd.

Anyone else feel that way? Is time to get over it and do something new, or shall I put some nice covered HBs I have in it?

Thanks

Gold or Nickel?

To be honest, I used to feel the ssme way. I still see uncovered pickups in an SG as not looking right, but my tastes have changed on the L.P. after owning my 2016 Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute.

I thought it looked good uncovered!

My vote is for uncovered.

Go for the covers.
Covers look good on all guitars, and uncovered looks good on most, depending on color scheme, etc.*

I have open zebras on my LP...I think they look good, but I think covers would look GREAT. Cover that thang!!!

*(Disclaimer,......IMO)

How about an HB sized P90 in the neck and screaming uncovered bridge? I have the goods for that.

Now we are onto something!! The P90 is one of those Tom Anderson stacked ones. They always sound good.

That LP detracts from your point, since I love it!

Very, very nice!

What color are your Tom Anderson's? I have a brand new set of the stacked P90's in Black, just nowhere to put them...

The ones in that Agile are custom wound by Ian Anderson out of San Diego. He is the one doing my custom.

The Tom Anderson is a PH1-, which looks like a P94. The other TA pups are just black bobins with double slugs.

Why not slap some on then?

Just wanted to get familiar with the tone as is. I've heard differing opinion on a change when covers are added. I was confident I was going to swap them outright....now I'm starting to dig em. Just wish the were a bit hotter.

That is why they invested boost pedals. There are many good ones for great prices. if you do not already have one, get one. This is a popular one

.

As many know, I love Empress. You cannot do better than this IMHO. Buffer loop (so it is like a front and end chain buffer) with a beautiful clean boost for a nice clean signal

Buffer+

In the end, there are so many great choices, it is dizzying, many cheaper than the above 2.
