Uncovered pickups in an LP

Mates,

I have a guitar husk in the LP style coming soon. I have a choice of pups to put in them. I have more uncovered than covered available, but I have always thought that uncovered HBs in an LP look odd.

Anyone else feel that way? Is time to get over it and do something new, or shall I put some nice covered HBs I have in it?

Thanks

Wow, tough call.
I prefer covered buckers at this point in my life, but have been known to remove covers before.
I suppose it depends on the guitar color.
I think a black one or other dark color should have covers, but a white one or a light burst could get away with uncovered.
The exception being uncovered cream coils in a dark guitar.

You have inspired an idea for this project, just as your work has before this. I could cover the uncovered pups, BUT, I may need a closed covers. My uncovered pups are Tom Andersons, with no screws. I am not sure how that would look with standard covers. His covered pups are solid.

I could creatively cover the holes by gluing an inert item over the covers, like plastic gems!

I will self depricate before anyone says it...
Maybe I should just through all these pickups away, since the lack of screws limits their adjustability. Garbage!!!!

My LP BFG had 1 uncovered zebra humbucker and one covered P90.

The uncovered 'bucker looked just fine on it. But it may depend on the finish of the guitar.
This guitar has a dark stain. That said, since it is a husk, I could just spray paint it!! I will decide when I get an up close look at it as there was only 1 internet photo of the guitar. The husk cost me $19.99 and $26 shipping, so I am ready to get creative with this one. At present, it does not even have frets.

I like both.

Very often I have ended up with a covered bridge and uncovered neck; no particular reason, but I think that looks ok.

Why not one of each?

Id like to see a picture of this husk. 19.99??
I will put up pics on Wed. It is so raw that it will make a fun thread. FYI - shipping was $ 31 to me. He gave me a discount and I paid $ 27 because it originally charged me $ 7 at checkout and he had to add $$

Unfortunately, as soon as I bought it they removed the pic, but here is the site. Look in Luthier Corner. The more messed up, the cheaper. The cracked headstocks are $9.99. Got glue??

(no title)

The topless bucker covers are always an option.
Lends a finished look, yet leaves the coils exposed.
The top one in this picture is the one I'm thinking of.

That is cool and different. I remember someone doing that here. Was it you?
