It's a ding-danged Christmas EMERGENCY!!
Erica's son Hunter is quite a guitar player, local kid, don't know him. Says he's a lanky 15 year-oldwith a harem of guitars numbering in the low teens already. LOL! Starting early! A HUGE Dimebag fan apparently, but who also can pick a George Jones tune to make his momma cry.
That's MY kind of player.
Anyway, mom contacted me early this morning on F-book while I was still lying in bed. We discussed what to do for him and settled on a name strap. Now to kids these days, the vanity straps are kind of cheeze, but with a name like Hunter, I felt maybe not so bad. turns out it's also his mom's maiden name too, so extra special. so we went with that - she really wanted it. And, I added a little Cowboys from Hell thing on the back just because it's Christmas, as mom showed me a pic of his main guitar which happens a Dean explorer, in tobacco burst. So, why not?
Didn't get the explorer shape exactly right, but well... that's what we in the business call "handcrafted soul" right there LOL!

Then I figure why not try to go one further? Make it a little extra special for a talented young buck.
Using a tiny rag scrap balled up into the size of a pencil eraser, a bit of VERY finessed burst rubbing.
Kind of a stressy, heartstopping situation, one little slip with the black dye and it's ruined.... but no guts no glory right?
Looks pretty ok! I think we just might make the tuesday deadline too, but i'll have to pick away at it this weekend.
At this point I'll take any kind of business I can get.
Anyway, that's what's going on over here. Big blizzard happening today. Staying in the shop, and close to the wood stove when I'm upstairs. Merry Christmas all you following this thread, if I don't come back with anything else before all the festivities go down. Be safe, be merry, be grateful.

@Sargeant Preston I sure aim to NOT to stop making 'em. I'm keeping all my gear, leather stock etc. Just can't seem to figure out how to keep selling enough of 'em to make it a worthwhile use of my time. I've done ok here with local and the Canadian market leading up to the holidays, but I wonder what's going to happen in Jan Feb?
Just thankful right now... Gonna enjoy the season.

Clearcoating today and tomorrow for assembly on Monday. It's going to be a back buckle affair
I kind of like how I got the front letters distressed... they seemed too stark and bright without the extra treatment

Thank you to all sharing my StrapLab adventures here, and especially the many TTR members who believe!
Today I get to change out my outdoor GFCI outlet at -24, so we can continue to have block heater action LOL! Oh what fun! The best part of this ordeal is searching for your lost fingers in the snow, thawing them out, then duct-taping them back on. It's best to take GREAT care to make sure you get them reinstalled in the right order, on the correct hands. Won't make that mistake again.
Lasagna dinner tonight, roast turkey with all the trimmings tomorrow. Most importantly, time with family. My two young adult kids are home, both unattached, and over the past few days we've all been enjoying a flu virus together, but all seem on the mend today.
Keep it safe, keep it merry, keep it close.

I have minor septic issues.... fortunately nothing that can't wait till after Christmas. And at least what I have needed to do outside, it's not flipping cold. At least above freezing.
