TVvoodoo's Straplab

It's incredible how people can want to be more specialer than anyone else.
You could have listed for 50% of the price and he would still want half off. One of the reasons I gave up on retail and retired, after a stress leave.
Don't need his business, like he's a charity or somethung.
No offers allowed here is the price.
Bite me.

Dude kept coming back last night, and again this morning. Ended up in I finally accepted an offer at lessvthan I should about 130 just to get him off my back.
Should drop a deuce in his box, he's gonna give me a 2 star feedback I bet anyway, just got that feeling.

I won't do that though. Even packaged in some pro-pins.
I got enough going on with a very troll arse on The Gear Forum this week keeps bad-mouthing my straps and has never even used one :ROFLMAO:

Spent 50 years working with customers. 40 of those behind a parts counter. What was nice about parts. Pricing was set. If their tractor was broken they needed my part. Don’t like my price. See ya later. There were plenty of other “issues” dealing with the public. But price wasn’t one of them.

Pricing shouldn't have been an issue in photography equipment when most cameras, even cheaper like $300 ones ,have a maybe 18 point profit margin as a starting street price!! But they figure it's electronics so must be worth haggling over. They can all go kiss my butt.
Brad, too bad that knob got his way. I guess it's only one sale.
I generally hate people.
They suck.

You need a hug Geoff?:D:cheers:

@Jethro Rocker I worked in outside sales too long... always trying to build long-term symbiotic relationships. Retail I'm finding is a whole different beast. Some people just want to take and take and take... never give back ... thankfully they are not that common.

Nah just the general attitude towards much retail.
Oh…. I get that. As I said. More or less retail in one form or another for 50 years. Retired in 2020. Every time I get the thought to go get a part time job for play money, it would be retail. The shiver starts at the hair follicles and goes clear to my toe nails. Nope. Don’t need play money that bad.

25 years here. It was enough.

Lookin' like a "Dirty Blonde" to me

Mused about a possible problem-solver the other day. Today, a proof of concept experiment.

Cut an inch off of a 1" broom handle (shhhh!).

Proceeded to mark center and drill down a couple mm. Yeah, an actual drill press would be real nice!

3/4" turned out a perfect fit for my tin emblem (with just a bit of scraping).

Drill through with the appropriate bit to fit my most common rivet setter. (8mm) PERFECT fit!

This keeps the iron centered exactly on the button when I push the handle to press.

It's finicky. Getting a rivet through the hole ain't as easy as one would think.
But it works nice to limit wander of both the rivet and the emblem in the press.

Completed this custom today, headed to Edmonton tomorrow.

Not bad for a Monday.

Awesome photo @Jethro Rocker I thought you said taking pics of that beast would be difficult?
Not for a seasoned pro like you! Thank you, i hope it inspires many a jazz ballad riff LOL!

Completed Dark Shadows Dirty blonde this morning, it'll be in the R-store tomorrow.
Padded, a bit skinnier up front, and goes as long as 62"

Today on the bench, grommets. I figured I needed to make a few of these for the store, I've mostly just done this as a custom.

Got some antique brass grommets, some gunmetals. These straps take a different kind of padding inside, and a fair bit more work than my normals because I really don't want you to feel 'em. So many strapmakers just have metal bits, rivets, grommets, stud claws etc... pierced right through the strap then just a-bangin' away on your shoulder, damaging your clothing, etc. Not my style.

I'm also incorporating my old "Amp'd" concept of like seven years ago... with some Fender silvergrill, Mojotone black 'n tan, and some Marshall salt 'n pepper visible in the portholes.

As you may expect, details like this enable these black leather straps to send out way purer toanz!

A ways to go on these yet, tail straps, button holes etc... should be ready tomorrow and hopefully in the store.

Tis so reflective I had to set the black cover for the foldable backdrop in front so there were less reflections then put flash on stand behind that pointed to ceiling. I then leaned around side of black drop near floor so not too much floor reflecrion in guitar. Still a tough go! That bugger is interestimg to shoot.

@jethro I remember one time on a shoot with a new lighting Camerman, late in my career as a commercial director. I had worked his camera job for years prior, plus film location and studio lighting for years prior to that. He was trying diligently to help me get real sexy product close-up lighting on a clear glass bowl of green jello. Nothing was working for him... it just looked dark and gross no matter where all around he was moving his key and fill lights. Stymied!
I then revealed to him how to hit it from close behind with an extra backlight, and back way off on his front lights... suddenly it started glowing a hot and rather photogenic emerald green!

Tricks of the trade!
