As mentioned, three new Grommet straps in the store. Flavoured in the Amp'd realm with grillcloth.

Very good black leather, nicely padded, super sturdy. The two gunmetal grommeted ones go to 60" and beyond
for you low slingin' rockers out there! Most ladder back type straps max out at around 51 or so.

Couple of new things in the store as of earlier today... No series, not really a theme... just me freestylin' yesterday. "Five O' Diamonds", and "Crocodile Style."

I could go on about them, but what's the point? You already know they're going to be longer, stronger and way more comfortable than off-the-rack straps.

What else is new... Oh! "Rusty" in Edmonton, got his Bantam Burst Dark Shadows custom! I was a bit worried about it, as I don't really make anything unpadded, but he demanded it. But it all seems to have worked out ai'ght!

"I am so impressed by your work on this strap. It matches the guitar perfectly in color. It is so comfortable, feels like I've had it forever, and it's not even broken in. None of my straps are padded, this one is just the right width and feels completely natural on this guitar with no padding.

I have several crazy custom straps, but this one takes the cake. It just became my favorite... ...It's literally the least expensive of all my custom straps, and by far the most painstakingly crafted of them all. Thank you very, very much. In truth you should charge more, that's very high custom work you're doing on straps like mine." HT in Edmonton.

Words like that are good enough for me to strut around on for a solid week! LOL! I think he's already thinking about another. And, if he really wants to pay more....

Other than that, I decided this morning to start another GeoMatrix. I know I was just going to do them as custom, but I want at least a couple to show people. And really, it's kind of fun. So here I am, after a couple hours of hammering before lunch time, slowly creeping in on another burst - I'm going for a '59 burstvkind of thing, at least what I imagine on to be. Dye is still wet here, but once it dries, I'll have a look and see what it needs, if anything.

Looks like maybe a touch more Red Dye No. 3 amirite?

Oh, and some exciting news, at least to me! Due to the mail strike, I never got an Xmas gift from the wife. So, I took that dough, and put it towards a little extra cash in my stocking and pulled the trigger on a guitar kit from the Hardly Dented folks! More details on that later. It's been a couple years since I've had a project, and I'm looking forward to a fun and probably kooky build.

Oh and Aynirar27 says hi, says he misses you all. He lurks on the Well-Hung F-book page

Have a great weekend, Here's my Friday song, words are mine, music is by AI. I actually recorded
my own version of this, but I like the Suno version better, way better singer, and production.

A custom job just off the table for Mil in Georgia, was the one far left, a Spice Merchant 1969 style strap, but in my Well-Hung Class Act back buckle format.

All three of these were packed up and sent his way this morning. He told me he's just testing adjustment types to see which style will be his own going forward... back buckle on the far right, Ocelot wild things sliding buckle strap (3" wide and padded as opposed to the typical 2" unpadded you're going to find everywhere else, and finally far right a ladderback in the Beastmaster.

Which style do you prefer? Or maybe you like fixed length?

Excited to see the newest version of my BeastMaster strap going out, slightly elastic along the body,
with padding and velvety lining that also flexes with the strap. I think it's one of my best inventions.

Here's a closer shot of the front of the Spice Merchant.

new in the store this morning, "Hell on a Budget" basically it's my Devil's Leash/1969 design, (saugerties patterned ribbon on a 3" wide base), but this time on black auto vinyl instead of leather. I can do these for a bit less, still the same amount of time and care goes in, just not as much leather bringing the price down a bit.

A great entry into the brand if you're out there interested and wondering. Doesn't feel plasticky, luxe padding, and there is STILL plenty of good leather on the nose and tail sections where it needs to be for security.

Fun feedback today from Mike in California...

The hype is real... I mean, it's not all just hype what I and others say, it's 100% real! So he says LOL!
Winning 'em over, one doubter at a time.

And finally something that took me pretty much all of monday to make. Pushed the envelope of my equipment, and my skills.
But by the time the dust had cleared, the nuclear fallout dissipated, "End Times #4" was complete.

If you may happen to be seeking something a little EXTRA special, this is one I sure hope goes out to a regular forum brother/straplab watcher, or a loyal repeat customer, instead of a web shopping rando. It's truly something else. Thought hard about keeping it, I've got too many straps already. Gotta share the wealth!

Got distracted for a bit, here's more continuing work on Geomatrix #2

Got to where I felt I was happy with the burst, but admittedly I kind of boffed it from what I was initially going for, a much lighter faded '59.
It got a little dark on me suddenly in one spot while dyeing, too much of a rush. When this happens, no going back.

W5KhezYY_o.jpg

Had to dye the whole thing to match my smallish splotchy error. So, now it becomes more a bourbon style/darkburst.
Dyed the edges black to highlight that effect.

Then I got all into the mucky-muck with it and the antique paste. Messy stuff.

Dg7rHyeZ_o.jpg

Wipe it off, some of it stays and brings out the texture, but it also tends to darken EVERYTHING down a tad.
Needs creme stitching to my way of thinking, but I think somebody is going to like this.

Finished pics tomorrow, and it's not for anyone in particular, will be up on Reverb.

Today I *mostly* built these four python straps... they will be available after this weekend.
A couple in creme/black and a couple in a very convincingly more realistic sort of colour scheme.
Still need to make tail straps, singe off thread ends, punch all the holes... place emblems, etc...

no8fuVNs_o.jpg

I'm as guilty for it as anyone... a lot of python can look a bit garish..., and it usually sells. But when I saw this in my fave leather store, I liked the idea of a more natural camo type python, as I imagine they might actually exist, with muted olive gray/greens, black and a bit of creme. Thankfully, the python population of Northern Saskatchewan is extremely low.

Here's a product shot of the recent GeoMatrix #2 - it photographs a bit darker in my gloomy little studio setup, where the lighting is designed more to mimic your local dive bar stage

And finally for this happy Friday, I have another Dark Shadows custom on the go to be shipped next week... he wants darker orange peeking through a black burst. Here's the first stage. Some pigskin that used to be black and very light pink. When you overdye pink with saddle tan dye, you get a very cool orange - highly saturated. Makes a really great purple too.

Don't hit it with green though. Blech!

Stay out of trouble this weekend my amigos!

New off the bench something I'd been waiting for components for. The owner and i decided a retro diamond type pattern wold be cool for this old MOTS beauty, and I tooled a diamond a little bit then dyed it and silver'd it up to mimic that effect. Added some black leather diamonds with red thread, some metal bits, on creme leather, and it all pulls together. Mind you this fella seems to like really flashy straps, so a lot of this is his ideas, including some big glittery gems, ordered in special.

So, that's one hanging around my bench since before Christmas. New in the Reverb store are a couple of pythons, "Dirty Creme" and "Swamp Bottom"

I think that above python has to be the most natural looking (and feeling faux snake I've every worked with. It's real leather, but not real snake, by the way
brother @GrooVey grabbed one up and as is my policy, when I have more than one, I always send what I feel is the BEST one available, to the forum brother

Going through some old pics saved for socials I found a couple sent in by Josh. I don't think I've used them so, if you are a forum brother here
my apologies! But he says he's been reppin' for the tribe every gig.

And finally, another shot of a couple beauties from an old forum pal, where is @Aynirar27 anyway?
His guitars are pretty cool too.

Happy Tuesday!

Ed Gawlik bassist of Detroit based modern rock combo "Eva Under Fire" visited the store for a long-reaching strap a couple months ago.
He checked out with an "Ocelot Lite" scheme that extends past 65"
