Tribute to my almost and hopefully not too soon Fallen Rock Star. MY doggie Spike

Spike was born Feb 12 2008. Greg.
That's a good run for a pit like your sweetheart Spike. That's also a good sign of a happy and well-cared-for doggie. Good job, Mark...

Weird...:
Yesterday after I read and found out about this thread, I became very very sad. Yes, my eyes watered up a bit. As my wife walked by, she immediately noticed my discomfort and asks me: "What's wrong? You look like your dog just died!"

Aww Greg, If I know you, you have an amazingly sweet wife.

Thanks for the tears and sentiment. I also was blessed to reach the mother of the man I got Spike from. Her son, wife and dogs all lived in her basement when I adopted Spike. She told me that Spike's litter mate and a younger pup had died within the year or so. Bladder issues.
She sent me pics of the 2 as they got up in age too. I think they made it to around 11-12 yrs old.

Spike had a good day today, No accidents. Ate some dog food, Sweet Potato, Steak, Chicken, Dog Treats, so all in all she has some livin left on Day 2.5

Thanks again to all who have shared your sympathies. Ozzie, Mitch, Yarg etc
Today I heard back from her original Human Grandma who moved to FLA. She is the mom of the man I got Spike from. She told me that 2 of the pups they kept from her litter and other subsequent litters that preceded her had passed away. They are now with their momma again. She sent me their pics. We had a nice chat and I was so glad I got to thank her for having such nice mom and dad doggies to produce my baby for me.

Update as of 2:45 AM 6/14/2021

As many of you know, my dear Pitbull, Spike is in her battle vs cancer on liver, and bad blodwork numbers for her kidneys and liver that I got last Sunday.
But, as my fiancee said a few days after Spike's vet trip. She said, " Spike is the toughest dog she's ever seen." as she fervently ate her food.

Well, I am hoping that with God's help, my special diet and meds like RVA suggested, and coordination with the vet, that we can see Spike's death sentence extended as long as she wants to live and is within humane mercy to allow her to experience. We are foremost hoping to stave off the horrific decline one sees with renal failure for as long as Spike is not suffering. I will know when it is time due to prior experience with my last doggie. I would be told by his vet that his symptoms and results were that of a dog with kidney failure and how it manifests in the breakdown of their biological system and is essentially a death sentence. That news from my last buddy's vet hit me hard as no real hope of recovery was possible.

I sure will do what is right at the soonest point before suffering occurs. MY adorable, loving and amazing Spike has made it to her 9th day after the initial down turn of vomiting last Saturday just before Midnight. Let's hope this week's good appetite, pretty normal digestive functions, and pep in her step continue. When she tells me she is ready to join her momma and daddy, her boyfriend, her brothers and sisters, and her awesome predecessor, I will see her off to them and send her to join my dear Buddy Boy "Shadow" waiting for her up in heaven.

I know this sounds biased, but between Shadow, my 9 year old beautiful Black n White Huskie mutt, and Spike, I had 2 of the most intelligent, loving and full of talent dogs ever to grace my world with life. Two total surprises I never knew would be mine on those fateful days I woke and went about my business only to wind up coming home with 2 of man's best friend's those fateful Dec 1994 and May 2008 days.

Thank you God for making my babies. We all know Dog is God in reverse.

I will probably get my hopes up and one day see my baby show me the sign of when it is time. But until then, she sure will eat good and add up her days till we've said she lived life to the fullest. So today is essentially day 8 behind us and 6/15 is day 9 which I give her a 100% chance of making it through if she keeps up the status quo she has been experiencing.

She has yet to not finish a bowl of food in the week since her diagnosis. Also, she has gained 3.6 lbs up to 51.2 from 47.6. In her prime she usually weighed 54-57 so this is a pretty good improvement considering 13 yr old Liver and Kidneys fighting her.

I bet she will really get an extra spring in her step once Kathy comes home from Ohio in a few days and when I take her to see our best buddy Bruce tomorrow. His home is her 2nd home and she has had much love there over her life.

Thanks again everyone. These are the real bits of life that make life full.
