Trans-Siberian Orchestra 2021

Alright...I'm home and have LOTS of pics!

If you've never seen the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) it is a very visual experience. They change guitars often just for the eye-candy appeal of it.

While I didn't get pics of all the guitars, between guitarists Chris Caffery and Joel Hoekstra, I saw the following:

Gibson Les Pauls
Gibson SG
Gibson Flying Vs
Gibson Modern V
Gibson Explorer
Gibson Firebird
Fender Stratocasters
Ibanez (they played a couple but I couldn’t tell which model)
Jackson Vs (Chris Caffery played a few different ones)
Friedman Tele

( @Ramo , this concert was pretty heavy with Vs and Explorers!)

The bass player played a Music Man bass most of the night, but I did see him with a single-cut bass, but couldn't tell the make or model.

Several of these are captures from video I took.

This is how the show opened:

Here are just various shots or captures from the evening:

This gets a pretty good pic of the bass player in the foreground. He was very animated and the audio engineers had him mixed so he was pretty thunderous! Chris Caffery is also visible with one of the Vs he played through the evening. To the far right is the electric violinist who also conducts the string section.

Just another view of the stage. We were close enough to feel the heat from the flames!

Here's a better shot of one of the keyboard players. He is also the music director for the group.

Okay, now some of the guitars...

More pics to come!

Alrighty...more pics!

Most of these are of Joel Hoekstra. He was usually on my side of the stage so I got my best shots of him.

Joel with Gibson Explorer. You can also see the other keyboard player on the left:

Joel Hoekstra with a luscious white Les Paul Custom during Carol of the Bells:

Joel with a Modern V. I know these get some hate, but they really look very cool in person.

And finally, Joel with a Gibson Flying V. You can get another view of the main keys and the bassist. The drums are also just visible.

Every one of these musicians are beyond good! They are immensely talented and have a phenomenal stage presence. It was a very enjoyable evening.

Don't knock Epi's. My Explorer and most recently the Flying V are damn fine instruments. Really glad I saved a ton of money with them.

lol-- Im not "knocking" them I've owned many and -- the 1 guitar Ive owned longer than any is a 2008 Epi Silverburst Lester Custom
-0-- you can research these very pages and find where i defend Epi rather strongly----- (but) to ad "scope" -- Ive NEVER paid 9 bills... for an Epi-- (even a USA MADE double cut one)
HELL I didnt pay 9 bills for ....er -- wait ....... NOPE never paid that much for a gibson.... or any other guitar ..... so-- when I am asking "is it "worth" it " its because I REALLY WANT ONE .... but --- DAMN THATS A LOT OF SCRATCH!

oh uhm @smitty_p ........

The Epiphone Joe B. Korina V that sole new for $899 or so is now selling for $2500. And that is the cheapest one I can find! Your Feringi flipper skills let you down on this one...

Perhaps--

But I had a KORINA (not with the JB "hyprebole" -- and it was frankly....... GOOD.... but not OVERWHELMING -- and I did flip IT for PROFIT ......... My Ferengi status is just fine thank ya Good sir ;) % of profit spread over market volume is always better than 1 big score ......

Wow! Wow! Wow! Very cool... :dood:
I'm hoping that some day I get to see a TSO tour show.

If you get tickets early enough, they aren’t all that bad. I bought my tickets four months go. I use the Ticketmaster app on my phone. The tickets are delivered right to your phone and they just scan the barcode when you get to the theater. Or, you can have the tickets mailed to you.

I already have tickets to see Eric Johnson in April.

The only part of the event that bothered me had nothing to do with TSO.

The guy sitting behind me just wouldn’t stop talking. Based on the odor, it was obvious that alcohol was definitely a factor in his inability to remain silent!

I mean, I have absolutely no problem with people cheering and hollering or whistling or applauding in response to the songs. I do plenty of that myself. But, during songs or the rest of the production, he just kept talking to his wife! Now, to be fair, he wasn’t intentionally loud or obtrusive. But, I could always hear his voice behind me and it was distracting.

I hope you had good time, I'm not familiar with their music.

It’s very possible you’ve heard them and didn’t know it!

Every year they do a Christmas-themed show. Joel Hoekstra, who I mentioned a lot above, also plays for Whitesnake.

Here are a couple of videos I took when I saw them exactly two years ago. I was in almost the exact same seats!

Carol of the Bells:
