Very nice watch but id rather draw a circle in the sand with a stick in the middle and guess the hours, than shell out this kinda dough lmao

It seems crazy what they can cost for sure. Watches are my "other" hobby and honestly they make guitars/gear seem like downright bargains (and it's one reason my wife never questions my guitar/gear spending habits), but - and of course there was a but - they can be remarkably good investments. None of the nicer watches I have bought have ever lost me money, they always hold or go up in value. I recently sold a watch that I bought in 2004 for almost 3 times what I paid for it, more than what a new version of the same make/model goes for today. I got to enjoy it for almost 2 decades and in the end it was like they paid me to wear it!

TBTH -- I dont like watches.... frankly I dont like "time" as an entity period. I hate CLOCKS -- the kind that "tick" piss me off there are NONE in my home -- if I visit someone and they have one in their guest room I unplug or pull the battery out of it.....-- but I didnt create this existence .... so...I deal with it in "theory" --

time is another of mans attempts to control the inevitable .... lets LABEL everything and strangle the FVCK out of it ....

it is my understanding that clocks were invented for some chinese emperor so his concubines could be spaced out properly or something like that.
probably a bs story but you never know.

time can SUCK IT ........ oh wait........... time was created to regulate the SUCK IT ---

and again time drools ..............
BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I find fine watches fascinating. It's part the engineering, part the precision manufacturing, and part the art/aesthetic/finishing. That something so seemingly delicate as an automatic or mechanical movement can function so flawlessly in a tool watch that gets beat around (one thing I do no do is baby my watches, no matter what they cost) is part of the allure. And as with pretty much all things in life I have found that you do get what you pay for/know where your money goes which is something that really aids the value retention.

Theres a watch company called Spitz Watches that Ive seen a few of their pieces go for 6 figures easily. They're owned and made by none other than Dan Spitz, former guitarist and founding member of Anthrax. He actually left the band in 1995 to go study at Bulova on a 4 year degree and after, he attended the Watchmakers of Switzerland Training And Educational Program to study Horology and became one of the best watchmakers in the world apparently.

He rejoined the band for a few years from 2005-2008 but returned back to watchmaking to be closer to home, having just recently fathering twin sons born with Autism. He now both builds his own watches and acts as an instructor/supervisor for Chopard.

Pretty interesting guy and it gives a whole new meaning to " Persistence Of Time"

Here's one of his pieces

I love this type of small watchmaker. They always have cool backstories, and they always produce fascinating pieces. One of my favorite watches that I own is a Stowa, made by a guy named Jorg Schauer in the Black Forest of southern Germany. They have a vibe the big boys don't.

This is a real investment-grade watch. It'll definitely increase in value over the years. $105,000.00 to get in the door if anyone is interested :
Spitz Watch on Strap – Passion Fine Jewelry, Inc.

Definitely out of the ballpark I play in - I tend to go with the more well-known mid-range workhorse brands that are always in demand and easy to flip for a profit if you choose to do so (Omega, Rolex, IWC, Tudor, etc). No haute horology on my wrist.
