tone knob schmone knob...its pink -- and its fabulous

there is a regular "nut" and the lock occurs after it

Yup. That’s a standard Kahler approach. Washburn appropriated that same approach with the Wonderbar.

The closer to the nut and more inline with the string the better. The fact that you don’t notice the strings pulling sharp when you lock it is a good sign.

Peavey 87 PATRIOT -------

When you need an engineer's degree just to set up your guitar!

That was always my irk with Fender strats, the volume knob is just way too close.

Y’know...that’s interesting.

I’ve come to really like the Strat volume knob right where it is. This struck me awhile back when I was playing a set and I wanted to roll the volume back a hair for a quieter passage. I didn’t really even have to leave playing position to make the adjustment. I just sort of rolled the knob a touch with the pinky on my picking hand.

I remember thinking at the time, “Wow. That was easy. Now, I know why that knob is right there.”

Ever since then, I’ve really liked the Strat volume knob location. It’s never bothered me before, but I went from being indifferent to the location to preferring the location.

Nice score!
I really like that, though I would prefer a tone knob as well.
I dig those Vandenburgs too.

On the strat vol placement- sometimes it seems to be in my way (esp. at first if switching from another guitar) but also appreciate the pinky reach dynamic.
