Speaking of listening to music, On Friday my wife asked me to play each of my guitars for her, and put on a concert. A lot of pressure, I tells ya.
Her least favorite was the LesPaul followed by the SG! In fact, she had me stop playing the LP rather quick like. Ouch!!
Well, we're still talking, but the surprise of the night was her favorite two. Second place was the strat.
#1, was my ibanez JS2400. Satch would have been proud. But I was just damn surprised.
The winner!
Here is what I have learned in back-to-back comparisons with my 3 guitars - 1987 Stratocaster Squire, 2005 Schechter Hellraiser and 2016 Gibson SG.
All three are good playing instruments and all three have good tone. However, notes fret easier on the Schechter. I find that I play with less effort. I use less strength for a given movement. Notes are more accurate without thinking about them.
It's interesting to hear the opinions of others who don't really know guitars, but who just listen and have no preconceived notions of what they ~should~ like!
After playing this Wizard neck, Gibson feels like a 2x4 with

I've seen him a few times in very small venues..an amazing experience. He surrounds himself with amazing talent too.

This is my exact experience. But my revelation is....that she's right. I got my sg a few years ago, a dream, and it's been Gibson Gibson Gibson ever since. I totally love my SG, but I have to be honest, the ibanez is superior, in almost every way for my taste.
I think a big part of my awakening, is the fact that I've progressed not only musicaly, but with my amp settings. a few minor variations and understanding of it, goes a long way.
I owned a s5470 with a 5 piece wizard neck for about a week. I still haven't played anything like it since. I was blown away.
The js2400 has a prestige js one piece maple neck, which is a bit more rounded, kind of like a strat. It plays like butter. Satch was a huge Hendrix fan, perhaps that influenced his neck creation.
Ok, sticking to the OP....Satch playing live for Sweetwater. C'mon, the guy can jam!!
Was Joe involved in Wizard neck design???
The Urge!!
I know, you've never heard of them. No one has....but me. I love 'em. Just a bit of ska. Great brass, great head banging, great music. Not for the tame or timid.
Pretty cool tune with the horns in it. Now that's something different. I like it. Good choice of music BocceBall69er!
