I do miss Stevie. Loved his songs/playing/voice. But I am also a heretic - never could stand his tone. I know, I know, but I have never understood the reverence for his sound. I just keep thinking about what he could have sounded like with a Les Paul. Man, take the ballpeen out of his hands and give him a sledge and imagine what could have happened!

This is where I think the deeply personal and individual nature of music becomes apparent. I liked SRV’s sound even before I really knew who he was. A guitar teacher played it for me and I liked the sound and playing. After that, I began learning more about him.

Does that mean others have to like the sound?

Absolutely not!

That’s what makes it so fun...we are allowed to like different things in this thing called, “music”.

Hey I used to know Corey Sterling (the singer) and he lived here in my home city. We even worked at the same job for many years and me and him partied a lot together. He'd be over at my place and we'd drink a lot of beers and jam on the guitars. He liked playing my SG a lot. I haven't seen him in a few years now but may still live where I live. He was a great guy and a straightforward musician. We got along very well.

Black, That is a small world for sure. I was reading some posts in the KWS clip where one fella said he was Corey's son. The son said that Corey doesn't sing anymore and his voice went downhill from drinking etc.

I wonder if your paths could cross again sometime and he can see the u turn you made and your positive road you are paving for yourself.

I like my bacon super crispy and even slightly burnt. I love my scrambled eggs with a touch of golden marks from the pan and lots of cheddar cheese if just cheese and eggs, but I am not prejudiced against tomatoes, onions, green peppers, ham, sausage, mushrooms, spinach or just about any other delicious add on. But I absolutely DO NOT like MILK added to my eggs. The flavor gets so watered down I would rather just eat cereal if I want milk.

I also like the sound of a sweet Strat, Gibson ES, LP, SG cranked through a Marshall JMP 50 watt and 4x12, or a Spankin Tele thru a Fender Bassman, Twin, Vibro, etc. Like kickin a girl outta bed for eating crackers, I also don't find any Rick, ESP, Ibanez, Schecter, PRS I have heard through a Vox, Laney, Hiwatt, Sunn, Boogie, etc to be out of the realm of pleasing to my ear. I am sure y'all can tell by my various posts in "To What are Yee Listenin" thread are of styles go across many genres and yet I still enjoy and appreciate their various qualities.

I think I saw Corey in the supermarket a few years ago here in town and I hope we can meet again. Like I said he's a great guy and a real down to earth human being. His girlfriend at the time didn't like him going down to the U.S. because he'd do cocaine with KWS and the band. Corey sure liked to party a lot just like me and we'd pull all-nighters together and stuff, etc. Maybe he cleaned up himself as of late and got himself off the drugs. We used to work at a liquor distribution warehouse together and I'd always pick up him up for work. One time at work he got into the sauce and he was lucky he didn't get caught for intoxication. I've been guilty also of indulging in some of the fine booze where I worked at the time. I have a feeling I'll run into him some day...we've been long-time friends and I wish the best for him.

Me too, Bro Black. Believe it or not, you and my drumming friend are going through similar paths of making your lives free from detrimental substances.
He is getting close to 1 year now. I also just got a call from a Fed Ex in a new town where he is trying to get hired. They were calling me as he listed me as a reference.

I respected his technique and tolerated his tone...
