This is where I think the deeply personal and individual nature of music becomes apparent. I liked SRV’s sound even before I really knew who he was. A guitar teacher played it for me and I liked the sound and playing. After that, I began learning more about him.
Does that mean others have to like the sound?
Absolutely not!
That’s what makes it so fun...we are allowed to like different things in this thing called, “music”.
I like my bacon super crispy and even slightly burnt. I love my scrambled eggs with a touch of golden marks from the pan and lots of cheddar cheese if just cheese and eggs, but I am not prejudiced against tomatoes, onions, green peppers, ham, sausage, mushrooms, spinach or just about any other delicious add on. But I absolutely DO NOT like MILK added to my eggs. The flavor gets so watered down I would rather just eat cereal if I want milk.
I also like the sound of a sweet Strat, Gibson ES, LP, SG cranked through a Marshall JMP 50 watt and 4x12, or a Spankin Tele thru a Fender Bassman, Twin, Vibro, etc. Like kickin a girl outta bed for eating crackers, I also don't find any Rick, ESP, Ibanez, Schecter, PRS I have heard through a Vox, Laney, Hiwatt, Sunn, Boogie, etc to be out of the realm of pleasing to my ear. I am sure y'all can tell by my various posts in "To What are Yee Listenin" thread are of styles go across many genres and yet I still enjoy and appreciate their various qualities.
