To Attenuate or Use Volume Pedal In Loop?

A bonehead like me would need speaker cable instructions!

The attenuator really opens up an entire world of tonal possibilities.

Not only is more gain available, there is a lot of influence over the guitar's tone that didn't have before.

That's OK about Bonehead and cables, I am a semi bonehead about cables after learning there is a difference that is important to keep straight for Speaker vs Instrument cables.

Also, re: the "Tonal possibilties" Have you experimented and found certain improvements you are looking for and others you didn't expect and got pleasantly surprised by?

Yes. I knew better gain was probably going to happen, but everything changed. Better harmonics, and better control over the tone in general.

In summary, it seemed to add a new dimension to the range of each EQ control on the amplifier.

Sounds like an attenuator is working out for you. You're running the amp hard, and also, you're running the amp in its sweet spot but at reduced volumes. This is a good thing for you and others that are more sensitive to massive volumes.

Yes. For sure its a tone improvement. I see where the attenuator could work well in many situations.

What I dont like is the two conductor straight 1/4" x 2 Spade 24" patch that Weber sent me.

What I want is a 36" patch that has a 90 on the 1/4" end and where the red/black speaker wire is encapsulated in a common jacket.

Guess I need an old speaker cable to hack.

Not to say, “I told you so”, but....

Right angle plugs are pretty easy to find too.

I posted pancakes and then added some other options,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I am sure there are a ton of ends on Amazon etc to make work for the specific purpose needed.

Totally agree Chili! I didn’t mean anything negative at all.

I just soldered in a couple of those(your last link to the GLS Audio ones are the ones I actually purchased a while back) pancake ends this week. They were for pedalboard cables. I was planning on using a couple for speaker cable ends, since I have been winter/spring cleaning and moving things around, but man are they tight on standard instrument cable gauge.

That looks good!

Priority one was just to get it up and running...but a longer 90 degree cable would be a much better way....
I figured, knowing you...you would only be happy if it was made custom to your needs.
12 feet of cable should be plenty to fabricate your set up to your needs, with room for error.
Maybe a little shrink tubing, and proper spade terminal ends....
