They just had to do it, didn't they?

I never understood new guitar 50's neck profiles the real 50's Les Paul's I have played were not massive like the 1957 1958 RI

Exactly. I've played plenty of '50s Gibsons over the years, and none of them had a neck the size of the R7s and R8s. Don't know why they continue with that gigantic neck profile, but it was the primary reason I sold the R8, just could never get completely comfortable on it, and for something that expensive it better feel right.

My 2002 1960 RO is a copy of a series one 1960 LPS # 00 serial number
The Gibson Rep measured my original 1960 LPS it was to mint condition to play
I've played the living snot out of the copy and sold the real one
one thing on the copy they used Burstbucker #1 pickups they sound like mud to my ears
my other Custom Shop LPS had Burstbucker #1 & #2 they sucked even worse
my friend Jim Rolph made me 4 sets of PAF pickups fixed I wanted double white Jim only did Zebra
I have a set of the Gibson Pickup Shop 1959 double white they measure the same as the Rolph pickups why change them ??
