They just had to do it, didn't they?

I am genuinely at the point where I am happy with the Les Pauls I have and not looking for any more, in fact thinking of letting go of one more that I never play.
So of course they had to come out with these:

I have never liked figured tops, and the only one I ever owned, about 25 years ago, I felt was an eyesore. When I got my '50s Standard I went with a goldtop to avoid anything lurid. These plaintops are what I actually wanted, and now I am thinking I may need one.

My 2016 Classic is a plaintop.
But otherwise I am a sucker for wood grain and figuring. Those look nice.
It's plain but at least you can see it is made of wood.

My 21 Classic Honeyburst.
Interesting how they had different versions of the Classic in different markets.
Mine was a Long n McQuade exclusive in Canada - plaintop, speed knobs, zebra 61T pickups, white plastic triangular tuning pegs, slightly different from the US models.

Nice looking axes. Tobacco burst really is a classic look.
I've owned over two dozen LPs over the decades, but never a tobacco burst one.
Always kinda wanted a tobacco burst Standard. Coupla guys I've been in bands with have used them.

I've got a number of guitars in various iterations of brown-&-yellow burst.
And I already have more LPs than I need, especially now that I'm retired from playing for a living .
Doesn't make me entirely immune to thinking about another, though.

If the Tobacco one had a red/dark back I prolly woulda pulled the trigger already. Not a big fan of the natural back with that color

I am just going the opposite, I like the natural back.
The weight is ok with me.

Can't believe I am saying this but that's a great price.
