I picked up a BC Rich Warlock yesterday for pretty cheap.
I was itching for a project.
It looks like it was used pretty rough.
The electronics work. The pups “work” maybe a fresh set of strings will make them sound better.
The neck and frets are in pretty good shape the body needs work. I’m going to try taking video and take pics of the progress in this thread. It’s not going to be a how to.
So I want to go from this

Looked up the pups in this thing They are DiMarzio DP151 which is like a PAF in the neck and DP100 which is a "super distortion" in the bridge.
Day 2 of the Warlock Crackle Project and here is the progress I have made.
Buffering for 5 minutes,, gonna give it a like anyway..

If that is a budget model, those tuners may be the worst part. Those pickups are a win!!
From the looks of it, the pups were replaced, the input jack was replaced. The person who owned it had really no idea what they were doing. The wiring and soldering was done piss poor.
I got this thing pretty cheap and I'm gonna restore it, paint it up, put a nice finish on it, and sell it for a little profit.
You are right, the tuners are cheap, and I believe this is a base model Warlock "Bronze Series".

When I pulled the strings off, 4 of them were around the pegs the wrong way. one of them (the B string) had 2 peices of string in it, which I had to pry out, and the G string wasnt even installed on the bridge correctly. The neck pup was so low in the body it couldn't pick up the vibrations of the strings, the bridge pup was really high and sounded like crap. I adjusted both when I did my play test and they sound ok considering I was playing on rusty, grime filled strings.

I figure I should be done by the weekend following the 4th.

Today I will finish sanding the body. I cant paint it yet since I couldnt find the crackle paint anywhere. I ordered it online and it should be here before next weekend. In the meantime I will put my painting jig together. I will name it "The Paint-O-Matic 2000". I will take pics of it when I assemble it. It's going to be a sophisticated piece of machinery.
