The Warlock Project

Yesterday I finally received everything I need to continue this project.
When I did My "Lizard King" strat project last week, it was more of a test before I actually started painting the Warlock. I did learn a ton from the Strat project. My hope is to get a nice large crackle effect throughout the body, especially the face and edges.
I'm really going to slam the crackle effect on there pretty thick.
I'm also going to do the pickup rings. I got some Tripp Eisen signature pups and I'm debating painting them up too.

Out of curiosity. Does anyone know for certain which one is the bridge pup? I'm assuming the one with the red wire.

I originally said I was going to go with a Yellow base color then Black Crackle, after debating it in my head, I think I am going to go with the Stranger Things theme, which BC Rich is now selling and go Red base then Black.

What i looked up and found in some pictures is the Red wire is 15.59k and the Black wire is 16.59k. So they are pretty close but judging by that if its indeed correct? The black wire would be the bridge Im guessing? Worse for worse, always could test it with a meter and see to verify.

From what I gathered, these were supposed to be initially EMG HZs but something happened during the production of the BC Rich Tripp Eisen Wave, so they instead built their own.

I just posted this in the pick up pantry.
We can continue this there, I dont want to derail this thread too much.

Serious Question for all of you.

I am on the fence about painting the face of the pups.
On one hand I like the BCR logo on them
On the other hand, I think it would look pretty cool if they matched the paint job.
Just a reminder, when I'm done, Im selling this thing.

What do you guys think?
@TVvoodoo you have artistic flair, what say you?

Is this still the target finish?

If so, I'd paint em to match, if that's an option.

That’s absolutely what I’m shooting for.
Except I’m going for the Stranger Things Eddie Munson red.

And yes. Painting the pups is an option I’m considering. I’m absolutely going to paint the pup rings. That’s a must.

Suggest putting a strip of clear tape on, painting the tape. That Way you can step back if you need to
You mean tape it up and test it to see if I like it?
Why clear tape?
Or will painters tape work?

painters tape would definitely work, but it's made to be much less impermanent, right? But maybe for a test.
Honestly, I see zebras on that in black yellow, or double yellow open bobbins for that hot pop factor for resale.
but I know that's not your direction. I was thinking if it was my crackle to do I'd undercoat in glow in the dark green

I was thinking subtle yellow middle and fade to red edges with the rings matching. Then crackle.

I will absolutely use your idea. It’s a good way to test it out to see if I like it.

I finally received my shipment of crackle paint.
After 1 failed attempt, this is take 2. Its not completely perfect, but I think it is good enough. I cant get the really big crackles I want. I think I am still laying down too thin, even though I feel like I am really laying it down thick. I guess heavy means pooling it on!

Here is part 4 of the progress.
Remember, this series of videos are not a "How to" series. It's more of a "Here we are now".
