I find them interesting until I get one and then lose all my enthusiasm. I just don't care for the 1 watt sound...

Thats why I like to 20/5/1 or the mini Marshalls. 20/5 watt amd EL34 which I prefer to the EL84 like the Peavey. Plis I do like to gig with most of my amps so a 1 watt doesn't appeal to me.

I thought about the output tube swap to get 2-3 w (forget which tube) but think I made my PT choice without the extra ma to feed it. The OT was fine I think but would have to check it again.

Have you tried a 4 or 5 Watter, something like a Vox AC4 or Fender Champ? They have a more full bodied tone. Cheers

I have. They are just not for me. I have no kids and an understanding wife when I'm home. When I'm at work I can crank a 100 watt amp if I like.

And why they make all different wattage.
I'd wager the majority of 1-5 watt buyers aren't gigging though if mic'd to house or run straight to the board......why not?

I personally dont like hearing my amp thru monitors with vox so my amp has to keep up to a drum kit. No 5 watters for that

I have a Bad Cat reamper too. I just prefer the sound and balls of larger amps.

This is the key. You need a decent speaker. The Blackstar cabinet came with a Celestion 70/80 it wasn’t great. I replaced the speaker with an Emminence P90e and the amp woke up. The same amp in the combo version with an 8” speaker sounds really bad to my ears. Through a 4 x 12 it sounds huge.

It may not keep up with our drummer, but my little switchable 2 and 8 watt DST is a great sounding amp. Even at 2 watts, it will drive a 4x12 with no problem.

Well, Steven Fryette's amp products used to be called VHT. In 2009(?), the VHT name became a Chinese product. I don't remember what the legalities were about. The Chinese VHTs are nothing like the old Fryette VHTs.
