I was not a big Zeppelin fan when I was a kid, as i was into the harder metal, like Motörhead, so I haven't had a great deal of experience playing Zepp tunes. This song - The Ocean - I had never sat down and actually learned until just a few weeks ago. I had heard it many times, but never studied it. This song proved to be one of the most difficult yet to reproduce. It's very deceiving. It sounds like a very simple song, but it has some unique timing signatures and little fills that can be really tough to nail down correctly.
Again, the 2016 Gibson Les Paul was used (with 498T bridge pickup full-up) but gain rolled back to about 11 O' clock to get a more 'Page-esque' tone, without totally trying to emulate Jimmy.
Again, this was made intentionally for use as a demo without multi-tracking. All guitars and bass were laid down in a single take. All mistakes have been left in place to give the feel of a live performance. The outtro solo hasn't been added yet.
Enjoy!!!
