The Muse I Adorn

Back to some acoustic work. It is my first love after all. Working on some ELP…. Tom Petty…. And I apologize….. Cat Stevens.

Edit: I have got to play this more. Finger tips unhappy with me. Got 12s on the acoustic.

That looks like a Balladeer. I used to have a 12-string Glen Campbell model from the '70s that my dad gave me. He left it in the non climate controlled basement in Melbourne Florida for many years and that warped the neck beyond repair. I even worked in a hanger at the Jacksonville airport where Kaman Air operated out of. Charles Kaman's grandson was the president there and he took a look at it and told me no dice, can't be fixed.

It was like this one. I played it until it just got too warped. I guess I technically still own it because it's in my mom's shed.

Man. That’s unfortunate.

Officially, it’s a model# 1617-4 Legend. It looks a whole lot like the Glen Campbell Ovation without his signature on it. And if my fading memory serves…. My reason for looking to buy an Ovation was because he played one. And me being a rocker…. Go figure.

Not to many of our music “hero’s” have affected me when they’ve passed away…. Much beyond, that sucks…. When Glen passed away, I had tears.
Warren Zevon. That one got to me.
I'm the same. Celebrity deaths don't affect me. But when Tom Petty and David Bowie died I felt a sense of loss. Mostly because their music really connected with me, and because I didn't see it coming.

Yep this for me too. I don't usually hear about them until later since I dont read the news at all anymore, but Tom Petty and Bowie got to me a bit, and even though everyone says he was a total douche, Scott Weiland affected me as well though not as much, I just remember I was in the car going someplace and it came over the radio and I felt sad for a bit. I loved the :poo: out of STP. Almost the same situation when I heard they found Layne, but that was pretty much expected for a while at that point.
I also remember when John Lennon was shot. I was only 14, but even then I was a huge Beatles fan. I remember it was a shock, and such a senseless tragedy. But let's face it, like him or not, the guy was an Icon.

Elvis, Lennon, Bonzo. I was 14 when Lennon went as well. Country Dick Montana just about did me in. I was actually driving a semi down the interstate in Arizona when I heard that on the radio.

My buddy Delfin and I were doing a little jamming, and watching Monday night football when Lennon was shot, Howard Cossell was part of the team who announced it :(

For me: Lennon, Bon Scott, Randy Rhoads and Stevie Ray Vaughan. More recently, Prince. Say what you will, but the man was a musical genius and he COULD go medieval on a guitar. Very underrated guitarist.
