It's cool, Man. I dig several aspects of Ghost. One is that nobody sounds like them, or looks like them and the musical arrangements are very good.

I like the heavy guitar work and all the things I did as a kid to shock people, they take to a completely different level.

Its hilarious to see the stuff frontman Tobias pulls...like playing unplugged and pulling out a kazoo. Plus, this band has such an incredible and positive relationship with its fan base.

When I was asked to help form a Ghost tribute for a private Halloween party, I was stoked.

From a conceptual standpoint, I think Tobias is a musical and theatrical genius. But, I look deeper into the science behind the band's success. Lead vocalist Tobias writes ALL the music and plays ALL instruments but drums in the studio. The "band" are all hired musicians.

I enjoy seeing Ghost get bagged on and then seeing their videos netting over 20 million views, plus they have the longest running mainstream rock song of 2018 on the Billboard charts, so there is a definite lesson in commercialism here to be studied...

Neither could I. Not what I consider metal or shock. When I think shock I think Alice Cooper, Marilyn Manson. That their videos get 20 m views means nothing to me, like, I see the crowds the WWE gets & you dont wanna know what I think of WWE. Cheers

I may be a bit different, perhaps odd, but I pay attention to what successful bands are doing and I try, as much as possible, to apply whatever I can from them.

That's OK, I've never been able to listen to an Aerosmith song all the way through in my entire life... :-)

Edit: Funny you mention Aerosmith. Late last night I was practising, playing along with songs on my phone using a Vox Amplug/headphones. Two of the songs I ran through were "Toys in the attic" & "Walk this way". Cheers

You have to check out the Red Elvises. They are a hoot live. More Surf than Polka. I saw them a few times in the '90s. I guess Igor is still putting together a band from time to time.

 
Well, if we got us a Russian theme...allow me to reacquaint ya’ll with the Leningrad Cowboys:

(Edit: The irony being, although they have the term “Leningrad” in their band name and they sometimes feature Russian-themed dancing and imagery, the Leningrad Cowboys aren’t Russian. They’re Finnish.)
