The Muse I Adorn

I've used the locking method for restringing ever since the 70s. It's simple and it never slips.
Maybe that's why I've never had any use for locking tuners.
I'll keep them if a guitar comes with them. But I haven't felt the need to add them to a guitar after the fact.
Makes taking off the old strings a little faster, I guess. But it only saves a second or two.
I've done it the locking way so many times over the decades that it's second nature to me.

Forcing myself to real practice. I've been switching things up between an SG, Strat, and Martin to get my fingers back into shape by switching things up between different scale lengths, actions, and string gauges. Been totally digging the DST-15, as I don't need to get that loud, even though the amp is completely off of it's rockers when playing it.

Hey did you use the App or just hook yours up to computer? As I mentioned elsewhere, app doesnt seem to work with Android.
I will try USB to desktop n see I guess. I just wanna load 4 tones I like.
Use the app sometimes, if I want to change something. I haven’t looked in to hooking it up to a computer for anything but the interface function. I didn’t like the interface function though, so I’ve been running the line out for recording with it…in to my usual interface.

Circumstances and life and maybe a bit lazy…… since first of June I’ve only had a guitar in my hands once. Fixed that today and boy do my finger tips hate me right now. Of course I had to grab the acoustic with the bridge support cables on it…… (.12s).

After a 3 year hiatus, I opened the case and pulled Jr out to play. 3 years is a minute and some stuff came back instinctively, some stuff I forgot how to play. Main thing is my arthritis did not kick up, my hand did not deny me the pleasure of attempting to play. Now that I have a guitar readily available, my hands did not hurt and I have the extra time now, I think I got some catching up to do. I still have several more guitars buried in storage but tonight the muse I adorn is Jr. So for all you metal heads, I gots me a pointy guitar too!

Awesome to hear, Grant!!
It may help to use a physical therapy routine before you play.
I do this: warm up my hands and wrists under very warm water and do some warm up exercises beforehand, just a minute of moving the joints around and a little stretching. You could ice afterwards as well.

I have not needed the ice, but this has helped me a lot.

I was never good at warming up before playing. Play some easy chords and then get at it. These days, I do tend to try and warm up. Fingers get a little stiff. Don’t know if I can call it arthritis or not….. or just stiff and sore from being an old guy???

Its been 13 years since I have gotten any new guitars (I am simple, cheap and stick to basics, what can I say? lol). But, the pops so very awesomely and lovingly handed me this a couple days ago and though I had never lost any desire or ambition to play: it certainly ignited a bigger spark in wanting to play more and try things and sounds I have never gotten to do previously.

For the first time since probably getting my first guitar as a teen, it's that old passion of not being able to put something down and trying to learn everything you can about it.

Still a Gibson guy but I will shamelessly be non-monogamous lol

Thought that I might finally test negative, but no. At least I'm not wanting to sleep eighteen hours a day now, and seem symptom free other than an occasional cough.

For today's muse, I went a different route, and dug out my JamMan. I forget why this ended up in storage, instead of on a shelf where I can grab it when wanted, but I fixed that. Decided to loop a bunch of Doo-Wop chord progressions with my Billy-Bo plugged into the DST-15 with a tad of reverb. Then played over the loops with the Billy-Bo and my El Capistan into the DST-15. Got a nice, big, fat, 1950's Gretsch tone out of it. Both pickups are definitely where it's at! The sound made looking for sweet melody lines to play over the loops a ton of fun. I will be doing this much more often, as I also find the JamMan useful for writing.

I've had that for maybe eight years, or so. Maybe longer. I used that for the version of "Don't Fear the Reaper" we did for the Blue Ӧyster Coughlin show. It does have a bit of a metallic gun metal grey thing going on. Dug that out today as a reminder to buy and change the battery before it goes bad.

Mine is an old bluey-grey 90s version….it has seen some action…

Mine is more shiny than metallic. It does reflect well.. It doesn't get much use. I can never figure out where using it will work well. Maybe if I wasn't the only guitarist, it could be more useful. It does always go with me to a studio, because then you can have several tracks of EBow.
