Whether you like him or not ( same goes with the band AC/DC themselves) you cant deny his ( or their) impact on rock and his inspiration to guitarists everywhere ( He is one of the 3 people who inspired me to pick up a guitar in the first place, in fact).
Same here man. I never understood a few years back when it became fashionable to hate on him in guitar forums. The guy is living the freaking dream for a guitar player and he has both the chops and voice to deserve it, even before you get to the fact that he is very cool and gracious, and is such a deep nerd about music and gear. He used to post at MLP and you could have really cool insightful conversations with him, but no, the weenies drove him away. I'd like to hear the last album those jerkoffs released, or see how many tickets they'd sell to an arena show; then I will give them the right to criticize Joe B.
Like his music or don't, but don't try to take shots at him for being successful doing the thing I think everyone on these forums wishes they were doing (making any music you want the way you want, selling out shows all over the World, collecting the most desirable gear there is and actually using it).
It’d be okay Wav. A bunch of us are a bit SG biased. In the beginning of TTR….. quite a few of us immigrated from the same forum.Well, I wouldn't say that I was biased and partial to an SG.... but...
Say hello to Burla

I’ve been a JB fan before lots of folk knew who he was. Not sure how I ran across him, but he was still playing small venues like House of Blues….. and smaller. His shows were affordable at that time. Like an idiot, when he played HOB in Chicago…. I didn’t go. Now the common person has to take a loan to get tickets…. As one does for just about every other live show.No doubt, JB has some great guitars and amps and, as you have pointed out, he actually plays them as opposed to them just being on display.
I just think he's a really cool guy and someone I would enjoy needing out with over the technical aspect of guitars.
When I listen to his work on songs like "Stop!," I am just amazed at the quality of his tone and the placement of his notes. I really can't say more than you did in your post. You totally expressed my thoughts.
When I listen to my recorded work, my tone reminds me of a skiploader dropping huge chunks of cement in a dump truck. But Joe has this crazy ability to bring the biggest, smoothest, hippest tones to the stage and make it look so easy.
I feel change coming. I'm not gonna be big like JB, but I believe I will end up on the road in the capacity of a supporting musician or a tech...soon.

That was also during the time you’d go to his web site periodically and download for free songs from his latest albums. Got a bunch of his early tunes that way.

1. We don’t all like the same bands… or even genres. The fact that music in some form touches and moves each and every one of us is what’s it’s all about.I honestly can not listen to him. Especially when he speaks. Worse than nails on a chalkboard.
I have a very good understanding of that post.

2. and I bet each of those guitar brings its own voice to the table. Non guitar folk just don’t get that.
He's acknowledged that he's quite influenced by Hendrix, even to the point to claim that during an acid trip the spirit of Hendrix reincarnated in him... Had to be a fellow Canuck...Okay, you wanna hear something really, really embarrassing?
I‘ve never listened to Mahogany Rush before. I know…that’s both lame and sad, right?
Anyway, I really liked that. It has a smooth vibe, jazzy quality to it.
I gotta check out more of that.
He represents the musical equivalent of Quentin Tarantino to me. Some people are going to like his offerings(music or musings), others will be disgusted by them.I honestly can not listen to him. Especially when he speaks. Worse than nails on a chalkboard.

Rob, I can not listen to his Utica accent. People complain about a Boston accent, but upstate New York accents are pure hell.
Well, there’s always the Chicago accent!
John, you wouldn't last 5 minutes anywhere in Newfoundland without goin' crazy or pulling your hair out, B'y! Why do you think they invented screech?Rob, I can not listen to his Utica accent. People complain about a Boston accent, but upstate New York accents are pure hell.
