The Best Tone I’ve Heard From An SG

No denying the impact, no. I've just always viewed the band and Angus as one-trick pony's. That trick was OK when Bon Scott was still around because he was so magnetic, but after he died...no, for me at least that trick got real old real fast.

As far as influence, I guess I am right at the age that Angus should have been a bigger deal for me but just never was, I just didn't get it.

No doubt, JB has some great guitars and amps and, as you have pointed out, he actually plays them as opposed to them just being on display.

I just think he's a really cool guy and someone I would enjoy needing out with over the technical aspect of guitars.

When I listen to his work on songs like "Stop!," I am just amazed at the quality of his tone and the placement of his notes. I really can't say more than you did in your post. You totally expressed my thoughts.

When I listen to my recorded work, my tone reminds me of a skiploader dropping huge chunks of cement in a dump truck. But Joe has this crazy ability to bring the biggest, smoothest, hippest tones to the stage and make it look so easy.

I feel change coming. I'm not gonna be big like JB, but I believe I will end up on the road in the capacity of a supporting musician or a tech...soon.

I’ve been a JB fan before lots of folk knew who he was. Not sure how I ran across him, but he was still playing small venues like House of Blues….. and smaller. His shows were affordable at that time. Like an idiot, when he played HOB in Chicago…. I didn’t go. Now the common person has to take a loan to get tickets…. As one does for just about every other live show.

That was also during the time you’d go to his web site periodically and download for free songs from his latest albums. Got a bunch of his early tunes that way.

I honestly can not listen to him. Especially when he speaks. Worse than nails on a chalkboard.

1. We don’t all like the same bands… or even genres. The fact that music in some form touches and moves each and every one of us is what’s it’s all about.

2. and I bet each of those guitar brings its own voice to the table. Non guitar folk just don’t get that.

Yes, that's very true. I tend to get very attached to guitars and I seldom switch them during a performance.

He's acknowledged that he's quite influenced by Hendrix, even to the point to claim that during an acid trip the spirit of Hendrix reincarnated in him... Had to be a fellow Canuck...
