With your experience from tone chasing with distortion/overdrive pedals, have you ever tried the Bogner Ecstasy Red?I would highly recommend the BE-OD pedal to anyone who wants 80s metal distortion. It is worth the price much like a Diezel VH4-2 is worth the price especially when you consider the costs of the pre-amp they are emulating.
I sold my EXH Metal Muff pedal with Top Boost (awesome pedal for a variety of metal including Sabbath).
The BE-OD has a gain trim pot inside the pedal. You can open it up and like a bias dial turn the gain up or down. So A+ there.
