Tapewound bass strings

I always buy my strings from my local shop. When I am out of town I purchase from a reputable Guitar store. I f I was to buy strings online which I might have to seeing the guitar stores are closed right now due to virus. In that case I will buy online from a guitar store that has online shopping. As they get the real deal from reputable distributors.
I totally get that. Living here in the corn ghetto, there are two independent guitar shops a half hour from me and their hours are not always coincidental with my time off. The nearest guitar center is an hour and a half away, so... that's why I order online.

I order most everything I can online--Got in the habit when living in the Fl Keys for 10 years--- there was 1 Kmart and 1 Sears and a Home Depot --- that was it-- closest walmart was 2 hour drive --IF there wasnt a wreck on A1A --- and IF it wasnt a weekend.....then 3-4-6 hours could be your drive--- 1 way to Walmart----

I also racked up good deals and online shopping skills-- points-- etc....also for decades it kept me from paying sales tax.............now... :(

Like this morning I ordered a "back up" snark tuner -- mines fine-- but Stewmac had a 20.00 off special--- so Im getting a new SNARK for 1.55 should be here next week.....yeah.

Ok your good, when you mentioned a cheap price, I thought they might be selling you one of the older stock with the long necks, which I can tell you, they break very easily...

great thread... thanks for posting.
love all of that bastard's Peaveys and Kustoms.
AND I had not heard of anybody making
counterfeit strings. What's the world coming to?

I only tried tape wound strings once, and didn't care for the tone.
But that was a long time ago, and my amp was a very simple Traynor
tube amp 1/15... the only controls on it were volume and tone.
Now, playing through my Roland CB-60 XT, I could probably make
the bass sound like anything I want.

I only have one bass left after last year's sell-off and bug out.
It's my Warmoth fretless. I'm using D'Addario half wounds on it
right now and really like the tone. They give me a growl and a mwhah
instead of a thud.

But I'm not set in stone about anything. I usually buy the D'Addario
brand when I see them go onsale. I probably won't buy any more
for a while. I might be doomed. *shrugs

Cindy and I are hunkered down, today March 27 2020. No symptoms
We have enough food for a while, and enough paper products and
cleaning supplies, so we'll try and keep our heads low.
Hang in there everyone... stay safe, stay healthy, check on friends
and family, and let's get through this.
