Strato-blaster

AGreed-- but I still fail to see how GIBSONS motivation -- creating a down market product-- and moving production to CHina-- is any different--

they laid folks off they "essentially killed" a HERITAGE of Epiphone USA made guitars--

Peavey has moved things slowly -- overseas -- Im mostly guessing (my take) to stay alive against the fact EVERYONE ELSE uses China Korea and outside the US labor --

Godin is a Family run Canadian owned and operated Business, keeps Canadians and Americans working, now if that's not enough for guys to buy their high quality guitars , I don't know what is. For those of you who don't know Godin has a assembly plant in New Hampshire. Buy Quality buy Godin and lets work together to keep Canadians and Americans working . Godin builds none of their guitars in China or offshore anywhere.

The difference, at least as I personally see it, is that Peavey didn't create (or acquire) an offshoot brand to establish an associated gateway identity for their US-made products. They kept their name and their pricing structure and simply started offshoring the production. I'm sure a lot of people in the beginning were surprised when they turned their new Peavey amp around and saw Made In China instead of Made In USA, especially after decades of the company building equity in the fact that they were an all-american brand. The least they could have done is lower the prices in response to the lowered productions costs, right? Nope. It's at a minimum disingenuous.

Gibson builds Epiphones in Asia and doesn't put their name on the products beyond sometimes making it clear that Epi is affiliated, and I have no problem with that given the strata that Epiphone was meant to reside in. Fender slaps their name on products made all over the World and while I don't really like that practice because it dilutes the brand, at least they tier the products so anyone that looks into it can easily see that the bottom end is Asia, mid-line Mexico and top-end USA.

I like old USA Peavey products, but if you watch the Undercover Boss episode with Hartley Peavey screwing over his dedicated workers to move production to China
there is no way can have the same feeling about him as his guitars and amps...

I'm guessing the folks that got laid off when Gibson moved epiphone to China didn't really feel any different than the ones peavey laid of to move to china.
Seems to me gibson PREMEDITATED the demise of those jobs ...seems worse to me like premeditated murder

Simply put -- Gibson fired people and moved production overseas to increase profit
Peavey did the same---so have a BAJILLION US companies--from Hoover vacuums to General Motors -- and Harley (WHO???? -- oh HELL NO HE DIDNT!?)
-- Gibson was a little "smoother" sure -- but same deal -- same deal--

IF GIBSON HAD LEFT THE EPIPHONE FACTORY OPEN IN KALAMAZOO AND SOLD (LIKE FENDER) USA AND CHINA EPIS ---THEN YOU WOULD BE 100% CORRECT mR. gBALL...

BUT they did no such thing--they COULD have introduced a 3rd option (or made Kramers in CHina and ...oh wait they are doing that now.....never mind) Id be PISSED if I had a USA Baretta that was worth 1000.00 last month and NOW Barettas are hitting AMS and GC stores from china for 179.00...........

they moved for profit--- just like Peavey -- -they laid off good hard working Upstanding salt of the earth white bread Michigan Yankees---not Rednecks -- (I dont know Im on a roll leave me alone)

what is TRULY AN ASSAULT ON THE WORLD is the number of Korean Chinese and Indo guitars being marketed and sold in 800-1200.00 bracket by ALL the Major Manufacturers (except Peavey ;) )

and FYI Peavey still makes select top end stuff IN THE USA--

ANd --- to any newbs that might not know--- this is NOT a WAR -- or even an argument (not the 5 minute one any way)

Gball and I do this POINT counter POINT thing alot -- He makes intelligent and thought out comments based on facts and things like that --- I act like an ASS and throw spaghetti at the fridge till something sticks :)

hopefully this is somewhat entertaining though the cats above seem bored-----

I have Gibsons and PEaveys -- and love both -- im just making things complicated-- er interesting -- yes thats it

I like the new tilted bass amps-- "Max" series--but Ill have to say the newer amps (like the Vyprys and stuff tube stuff---) ---meah -- not overly impressed if Im being totally honest --

The Mustang line by Fender (and the VOX Vaslvetronix stuff) is actually way better--
