Still no snow here

And now the deep freeze. Minus 7F right now. Supposed to hit minus teens overnight. Wind chill minus 20-30F. And it’s gonna be like this for the next 10 days. I know some of you that live in the north country are going…. “Isn’t that cute.” But this is not normal for northern Illinois. We seldom see below zero in the winter for more than a few days all winter.

The weather is a lot how you are acclimatized and prepared for.
Apparently Alberta put out a warning for people to unplug cars, turn off space heaters, ovens, lights etc yesterday and there were outages and brownouts.
Saskatchewan sent a good load of juice their way and helped save the day.

... I recall a couple of summers ago it hit 36C (102F)above and it was awful. When I travel, even medium humidity really sucks the life right outta me, wanna die

I can be outside all day at -25.
It won't be pleasurable, but completely bearable if dressed for it. The woodstove has been a real blessing these past few days... It's been kept roaring 24hrs for six days now. Going through a lot of logs!

Yep. Dress for the weather. A few layers of heavy clothes and you can sweat. We played outside as kids in minus 20 all the time. Scarf for face etc.
It's what one gets used to.
Heat n humidity kill me cause one can only get so cool without AC which of course we have.
But outside?
Yikes.
I'll take the sunny frigid day we have here today over gloomy n rainy.

Example. I had to blow snow last Wed. Temp was like -20 somehijng and winchill into high minus 30s. My SECOND biggest coat over insulated jeans and a t shirt. Face toque and big mitts. I was out for maybe an hr. Was certainly chilly when I got in, no doubt, but my arms were sweaty inside that coat. A skiff to shovel today so same but will only be 10 mins.
We do what we gotta

Looks like we're finally gonna get some snow here. First time since 2022. I'm in the 6"-8" range right between Tri-cities and Johnson City. Looking forward to the snow, but not the single digit temps and near or below 0 wind chills. Brrrr!

Well so much for that. It snowed about an inch this morning then it turned to rain and it's still raining. :(

Sunny here as well. But holy smokes is it cold!! Dog doesn’t even want to go out…. And she’d live outdoors if we’d let her.
That was us a week ago. Kept saying 6-8. More than 12. 3-5. What we got was…. Let’s just say I shoveled a 1/2” of water off my drive.
