Spin Magazines 100 Greatest guitarists: BWHAHAHAHA

I believe he actually did play, but that wasn't the point they were making with including him on the list. The point is that he was making music with guitars in it and blazing a pretty new trail along the way. Now, you may not appreciate it or agree with the methodology but he was vastly influential.
If he's so vastly influential, why have I never heard of him?

I also have to agree, that by ANY criteria, including someone who DOES NOT PLAY THE GUITAR on a list of the 100 greatest guitarists OF ALL TIME, is patently ridiculous.

He should be on a list of greatest DJ's.

To intentionally omit any references to Hendrix, EVH, Page, Clapton, SRV, Rhoads, Beck, Blackmore, Berry and Santana namely, obviously proved this list was just a troll job against people who actually play guitar and was a lame attempt to be trendy. I know its all about personal opinions but you dont need to be a guitarist or to ever even touch a guitar to know the names of Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen: thats how influential they were

Perhaps this sums up this "top 100 guitar players" in the context of a Google world: I was chatting to a mate, about the film the Wanderers and The Four Seasons - except that I couldn't remember the name of the band (The Four Seasons or the name of the song that opened the movie...), but I could remember, or thought I could (I've a terrible memory) that the band sang "Big Girls Don't Cry", so I quickly Google that and got:
