Speaker question

I've got a chance to pick up a G 12M Greenback on c'list.
Guy pulled it from a vox ac 15, says there was a tear near the rim that was 'nicely' repaired with glue.

My questions, for those of you who have repaired speakers before, what the best type of glue for long
lasting performance, &, what's the chances of the repair holding up.

The speaker, if I get it, will either be in a 2x12, replacing 1 of the 70/80 for flavor, or by itself in a new 1x12 cab.
Either way, it will only be driven by a Vjr 5w, & not driven hard.
Here's a pic of the suspect

The area at the top is where the repair is.

Thanks in advance.

paint fingernail polish around tear on speaker, put some toilet paper or cleanex or layer of paper towel on nailpolish, then apply more and let dry

now proper Luthiers will probably cringe at this but it does work, now granted ive did this on old TV speakers and old tube radio speakers but not a Celestion speaker

Thanks JG.
I haven't contacted him yet, kinda wanted to do a bit of investigating first.
I'll find out how'what he used, & go from there.:fingersx:

oh its already repaired i see. the paper products with the nail polish just give the tear somethin to repair it with .

Well, he got back with me, but didn't elude to the method of repair.
"It was a clean tight tear so it was glued" was his reply, along with both for $50
He also has this one in good to exc

Both for $50:hmmm:

Brought em home today.
Gonna go over the repaired area with some FN polish, just for the hell of it.
Next will be switching out the GB for one of the 70/80s, & building a cab for the Vox/celestion.

Turns out, the guy who had the speakers was the same guy I sold a black epi special p90 to, about a year ago.
Small world.

I don't know the best glue, but I've used paper coffee filters and Elmers's glue.

The coffee filter paper actually works pretty well.
I had a good look at the area where the 'tear' was, & its all together pretty well.
I just thought a bit more reinforcement couldn't hurt, so I'd give it a coat or 2 of nail polish.
JG, & you have both suggested paper of some sort, so I might throw a layer in there for good measure.

the flexible glue stuff would be a better choice for the speaker repair over nail polish but thats just what we used as kids.it worked but i wasnt working on guitar amp speakers either.
