Sonny Boy Guitars - LeSG

Although I have been sick over the weekend and stayed home from work yesterday, I did get a bit of work done yesterday. I removed the tape protecting the fret board and there was a small ridge built up between the Tung Oil coated neck and the fret board. Some sanding with 2000 grit wet sand paper took care of that. Tung oil got into all of the holes so I needed to open up all 8 of the pick up ring mounting screw holes, tuner holes and control holes just a wee bit. I also had to run a tap through the holes for the piezo bridge mounts.

After cleaning up all the excess tung oil, I installed the tuners, bridge and tail piece so I could set the string height & intonation. Then I played it unplugged for an hour or two before installing some more hardware.

I still need to wire everything up. Perhaps tonight I will feel well enough to wire up the piezo at least just to be able to plug it in. Still debating on how I'm gonna wire up the Seymour Duncan P-Rails with triple shot rings. 50's style perhaps?

Daaaaaaaang Wave... that is seriously looking really nice. You deserve it!

BTW... I think I found your glasses...

I was going to wire up the piezo last night, but when I got home I had a plethora of work sent to me from one of my clients for their new online store. So it looks like this will be on the back burner while I make some money.

Got to make money to fuel the addiction!

No worries Wav, if you're gonna play, you gotta pay.
It'll still be there when you're done with work.

Tonight after dinner I wired up the piezo bridge through the volume control directly to the jack so I could test it out and guess what?

IT WORKS!!! This was just a temporary solder job as it still needs to have a tone and switch hooked up, but I played it plugged in for the first time tonight.
:pics2:

Oh yeah, the pics will be coming once the wiring looks pretty and is complete.

I melted some metal this past weekend and all of the pots, switches, pickups and plug are wired up and functional...

Although I did have a stereo jack available, I used a mono jack because I did not have a Y splitter to separate the magnetic and piezo to different amps. After pluging it in, playing with all of the switches I decided that I really needed to wire it up the way I had originally intended with a stereo jack. I did go to Guitar Center and picked up the splitter cable to go from a stereo male to two mono females. So time to melt some more metal and change the jack.

Considering that there's a lot going on in there, it still looks pretty civil in there. Good job... (y)
