Some unhappy Gibson Owners

I rarely buy new--- I INTENTIONALLY BUY used-- abused broke damaged emotionally disturbed crap--- its cheaper that way --- then I fix it up and MAKE PROFIT--

that said of only 5 NEW guitars I have bought in the last 5 years---- the Gibsons were are and have been the only ones to suffer QC issues---I am NOT singeling out Gibson -- Im not BASHING Gibson I LOVE Gibbos ---
These were NOT "perceived" issues --- or "my opinion" style issues-- these were NON FUNCTIONING OUT OF THE BOX -- or shortly there after-- issues-- the ROBOTUNERS I loved -- I RAVED about how mine lasted a Year no issues--- then one day they went BONKERS-- never to work right again---
I WANTED them to work -- I LOVED them (best lazy man invention ever -- hit button strum guitars in tune LOVE IT!!!!---) it let me down--

SG -- bad pup --
LEs Paul -- tuners poo the bed
Squire CV 50's PRecision bass......EXCELLENT zero issues wonderful hunk of boomstick
Grote-- perfectly functional playable great sounding guitar
49.00 no name strat--- bought off ebay -- (might have been an early Glary-- ZERO ISSUES----the 49.00 wasnt the FREIGHT that was the FOOL PRICE!!! no issues--traded off for a Dean bass......

these are not padded figures or made up odds to "tarnish" Gibsons "rep" --- just stating facts---

I doubt I will ever buy another new Gibson-- whats the point-- Id rather get a used one I know works for less ;)
 
In 2013, I bought two new Gibsons. A Thunderbird and a ‘61 Les Paul/SG Reissue. They were the third and fourth new guitars I’ve bought in my entire life. Both were perfect. The LP/SG did have a couple of small biscuits to fill worm holes (or something) in the mahogany. Since it’s a good looking, one piece body I’m not complaining. They are hard to find, and you’d never see them if I didn’t point them out,

The new one pissed me off though. It’s easy to hide flaws in a transparent finish, but not in the equivalent of “candy apple red metallic.” They molested up. Got to call AMS when I get home. Got a killer deal on the guitar, but the scars are too pronounced in that finish. It would have taken five minutes to polish it again, even if they left the strings on and did it with a palm sander/polisher.

I only have one Gibbo with an unbound fretboard, the Flying V. Fret ends are perfect. If you have a bound fretboard on a Gibson the fret ends are completely covered by the binding, so that is a non issue. The fret ends on my stock Mexi-Strat sucked. Always biting my hand. The American Standard Telecaster was better, but not as nice as the Gibsons. The Warmoth necks I have on the Stat and bass are quite nice.

Never used the robot tuners. If I got a Gibson with them they would be replaced before I played the guitar. I don't do circuit boards either. Everything comes out and gets hand wired with 550k CTS pots and Switchcraft switches and jacks. That's just the way I roll.
 
just sent me to the recording room....had a drum track i made but never tagged it to a song..well the thread inspired me to tie it all togther...rythym & bass done...in the 1 hr J feels decent tomorrow She will get vocals in,,,,words just flowed quick with a matched set of notes...do some myth busting in the process with gear used & settings

No brand is immune. I had a Stratocaster shipped directly to me from the Custom Shop once - I was the first person to open the box after it left Corona - and it had a huge blemish in the finish and one of the inlays was wonky. I had a PRS Singlecut that had runs in the clearcoat. These were both very expensive guitars that one could argue should have never left the factory that way, but...

And not to mention issues with a bunch of less expensive guitars from premier makers over the years.

You are absolutely correct, but Gibson really gets the crap handed to them on the internet in general. As much as everyone says they suck I can't believe that I have never had a problem with one in 35 years.

I've been working on one today as well. Got a 4 minute drum track loaded and am working on the rhythm guitar now. Can't seem to keep the cats off of me which makes it a little difficult.

Pick on me...lol..i can take it. been a war this year...lawyers...doctors..the public being hostile...very rarely does a day go by when the hood isn't ugly with us....you should hear the background...how do people live? ...does every 3rd word have to be an F bomb..,,hire us & then your not there...don't even know your address or make and model of car...my new way to categorize things..how much trash is in the street in front of your house, determines the severity of the danger..3 guns on us this year again...

GIBSON POUNDED THEIR COLLECTIVE CHEST fired off lawsuits and STOOD in the MIDDLE OF THE ROOM DARING the world and all comers---and the world said
"you aint all that guys" -- period--
Fender isnt calling everyone out and putting out threatening videos--- and whos picking on them ????

I mean --- if your gonna walk in the saloon and call out all gunslingers YOU BETTER BE THE BEST...................... or your dead-----

I hate to say "they started it" but come on----------------GIBSON did

then click videos and see what you get .............
try it with Martin or any other USA made brand and see what you get...........

Like I said "THEY" started it---

People are rational-- in general -- you cant postion yourself as the BEST and deliver poo -- you get called on it-- if you are just JOE gutiar maker and a poo one slips through well --- Hey Joe....where ya going with that gun......wait no--- what was I saying.....................

now are you all sufficiently TIRED of owning substandard Gibsons???? PM me we can talk about reduced rate buys ....Ill take the RUBBISH off your hands --- ;)

Agreed! And all my Gibson's are gone...
