Some unhappy Gibson Owners

I read on ZZ sounds 2 reviews on 2019s one from June the other October, they are still having issues as we see from SG John as well. This should have been taken care of before now with the new CEO. These guitars should never come close to the shipping door.

It's a well known problem that the finish on white Lester's can develop surface cracks after a few years. I have a small one in the cut away on my 2013. Doesn't bother me at all. It was disclosed when I bought the guitar, it plays beautifully and I got it for $1000. The also easily yellow.

The second guy should top wrap his tail piece if he doesn't like how hi it is. His bridge can't get much lower before it bottoms out. Nothing wrong with the neck angle. I'm not fond of the full pick guard with no trim rings for the pickups. Really messes up the string to pickup alignment. Don't have a clue what's wrong with the bridge pickup. Maybe those aren't potted and it's really high output.

My 17 LP and V and 18 SG are all wonderful with no factory issues and nice cases.

Guy 1: Complete moron. Staggering ignorance of how nitrocellulose lacquer ages, yet goes on the internet to highlight his own stupidity.
Guy 2: Play before you buy. Caveat Emptor, you jerkoff. Just cos you don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong.
Guy 3: Speak for yourself, wizard, opinions are like a$$holes after all. And by the way why not take a look at the current catalog, which addresses every one of your whiny complaints.

I’m at work now, and haven’t watched number 3 yet...
But totally couldn’t have said it better about 1 & 2.:celebrate:

interesting....99% of what pisses me off on forums is the bashing..i guess the negativity is what most flock to...i can bash anything..whats the point..... go back to my room & bust the myths.

no one cares..even for truth anymore..they just ramble on & on .even if you prove a point....then again..where are the songs ..the gig pics....critical people running at the mouth

Pretty much...i realized it was better to just get rid of them and go with a guitar that doesn't have all the manufacturing defects.

Now, i spend zero time fiddling and 100% of my time playing...

a player will use what he got to the best of their ability.. never had 1 prob with prob over 25 of em...for fun i am doing next song on a broken Washburn...the gear that is available these days..so many choices..no one should be wasting time doing anything but playing...

Not sure what you show push back against the third guy, to call him wizard etc Gball, but I think he probably knows the catalog. I read one comment to his video that probably sums up why I agreed with Rhett Shull

"It's funny (and by funny I mean stupid) how many people completely miss the point of this video. Yes, you CAN buy a Traditional. Yes, you may be one of the ones who really like the 2019 Standard. The point is that Gibson does not learn from its mistakes; does not listen to THE BULK of its customers; and continues to go sadly downhill as a company and maker of legendary guitars."

I guess I partly agree with you and partly with the viewer. Obviously Gib is able to make some good units, but they also make their share of clunkers. As players, we hope for a direction that yields fewer clunkers.

My 2016 SG Standard has a flawless finish and plays great. The 1990 LP Standard that I (sadly) got rid of had lots of finish flaws but that made it awesome IMHO! My 2004 Epi Les Paul Standard LQ has no finish flaws and looks and plays amazing.
I have not had any issues with Gibby up to now, though I don't have nearly the experience that some of you do.

My issue is that he wants to speak for the Gibson-buying public as a whole. I'm partly biased in that I've seen a bunch of this guys videos and he always comes across as a smug a-hole who thinks he knows how everything should be for everyone.

At the time he made this, early in the model year, you could choose the Standard, which was a modern interpretation or the Traditional which was a more classic take. His semantic BS all comes down to how he personally thought the company should use the name(s) of their own products. They were building what he wanted, but he didn't like the name. Boo-hoo.

In the interim, they've done precisely what he recommends with the Standards in the Original collection, which kind of blows the "Gibson doesn't listen to its customers" theory out of the water.

These cats that go on YouTube to vent their own personal issues need to find another hobby.

I bought a new SG 60's Tribute from Sam ash back in 2014 --- came in with a NON WORKING neck pickup---
customer service was general RUN AROUND-- Sam Ash had been BLOWING them out at year end and had NONE to exchange it with and WOULDNT exchange for a different (more expensive model) --- they WOULD refund/return it-- but --- I wanted to "see it through"---
took it to THE GIBSON AUTHORIZED SERVICE TECH (in S. Al. that was a HOOT-- a garage in some guys back yard out in the country) -0- yes that was the AUTHORIZED service repair place--- and he couldnt fix it
"has a circuit board--I dont even have tools to diagnose that"
ugh
gave me his "Authorized Tech #" and let me call Gibson....get a replacement pickup sent to me -- and I installed it (worked great after ALL THAT CRAP) -- I traded it off for a VOX VIRAGE worth WAY more anyway Flipper life ;)

so-- well there ya go---

the SECOND NEW GIBSON I purchased of late was a 2015 (blow out) Les Paul 100 JR -- with the ROBOTUNERS--
its a good gutiar but sadly the Robotuners pooped the pot -0- and got swapped for Grovers -- (Thanks Johnny Goo!!!) and the (weak thin and sad) stock pup was replaced by a 20.00 Guitar Madness Dog Ear that sounds FEEEEnomiNAL--- so -- again some issues-- some tweaks but a dead solid gutiar now.

Ive never bought a custom shop high end "nice" new gibson------ maybe its the bottom feeders that are "issue" ridden??????? dunno

but still only 2 NEW GIBSONS I ever bought--- both had issues---- them aint good odds---

WHEN YOUR RUNNING AROUND CLAIMING YOUR THE BEST GUITAR MAKER IN THE WORLD AND PLAY AUTHENTIC ETC ETC you really should BACK THAT UP with solid gear not 50/50 hit and miss b.s.

--- again has anyone Seen Mark Agnessi since his Bat poop crazy rant threatening the ENTIRE guitar building world and Hollywood????? did they kill the guy off or what?

To argue the other side------ I bought a 169.00 GROTE --- that friggin SLAYS --- for what the case for a new Gibson costs----
ZERO ISSUES -- nice fret ends quiet as a church mouse wonderfull full rich hollow body jazz tone---- GROTE-- 169.00
pickup worked-- tuners work---IT INTONATES-- plays good sounds good -- stupid good cheap fun
every bit as good as the Casino-- 339--Wildkat-- And any other hollow Epi Ive owned or played---
