Some of the Music that Raised me

During the mid 70s, as a youngish mid-teen, I was using headphones to listen to & absorb albums such as,
Wings Over America
Grand Illusion
Out of the Blue
Frampton Comes Alive
News of the World---One of my top 5 rated, for the "B"side tunes.
And others...
Cassettes of VH1 & 2
The Cars

After my teen years, I graduated to Yes & Rush & everything Zep.

MelBay taught me the "cowboy" chords. Those get occasional use still.

Probably my earliest memory is hearing Do It Again on the radio when in the car with my parents, so I would have been about three years old. It must have been on a lot for me to remember that.

Jeez. Where do I start? My listening experience as a young teen and not so young teen was rather eclectic.
Grand Funk
Rare Earth
Steppenwolf
Chicago
Blood Sweat and Tears
CSN&Y
Especially Y

Throw in some
Black Sabbath
Deep Purple
Alice Cooper
ELP
The Who - Primarily “Tommy”

And for fun
Herb Alpert
Tommy James & The Shondells

What I didn’t do was Beatles and The Stones.

That barely touches the surface. Counting vinyl, cassette and CDs, I have several hundred albums. Which also includes the masters like Mozart, etc.

Told you it’s eclectic.

Death Magnetic was the last cd I bought a ways back. I liked some of it. The disc got stolen from my car. I did not replace.

The thumb drive I use for long trips has quite some eclectic stuff, no Beatles because they didn't have that hard drivin groove for when you're literally hard driving.

A young teen lad who started out with my older sister's records. Then purchased others myself. Much of this influenced my desire to play guitar too of course.

Plus there was good top 40 radio at the time.

Nazareth
April Wine
BTO
Prism
Van Halen
Etc.
Mid 70s onwards. Still love it today.

Steely Dan
Led Zep
Floyd
GFR
Beatles
Wings
Early Aerosmith
Elton John
Cat Stevens
Hendrix
Lynyrd Skynyrd before the crash
Black Sabbath

Then Physical Grafitti took over,
followed by Boston
early Journey
Bon Scott AC/DC

Then Van Halen took over my life for years but still listened to all Zep and of course Journey.
Neal Schon, then Billy Gibbons, SRV, Satriani. I was into some blues for a long while, its because I noticed that nearly all other rock n roll was just an edgy blues riff.

Well that is how I saw it as a lead guitarist.
