I have several Epis, with no complaints about build quality. Of course they're poly finished, but for the price they're hard to beat.
Excellent platform for customizing, though generally the stock hardware & pickups aren't half bad.
I feel the same way about the PRS SEs. Great deals, and perfect for upgrading/personalizing.
No modded guitar will bring what it cost you if you decide to sell. More and more often I see people parting them out because the replacement parts are worth more separately than in a package deal. It would not surprise me if that trend continues to strengthen.
We really do live in a golden age for musicians, with modding options that are nearly unlimited - especially compared to the old days.
