So-Cal Christian Rock Band Outfall's Latest Release:

As you guys know, my work as a session musician takes me to many wide and varied musical destinations. One day I am tracking guitar and bass, the next I am doing voice overs for a training video or public service announcement, the next I may be providing backing vocals for a solo artist's project. Every day is different and my work crosses a wide variety of genres, even Spanish language musical projects...In November of 2018, I signed on with So-Cal Christian Studio Project "Outfall." Here's our latest studio production - a cover of "Everlasting God." I am singing lead and backing vocals and playing all guitars and the phenomenal drum arrangement is courtesy of Robert Phillips.

I genuinely HATE my voice, but it's the only one that I have.

I put Easter Eggs in this recording for you guys!!!!!. The bass line (played on a Geddy Lee signature Fender) was arranged "on the fly" in a single take, and contains some rudimentary country/jazz fills. Listen closely and you will hear me singing harmony a full two octaves above my singing voice. The main solo has a country lick in it, consisting of a half step bend, followed by plucking the unfretted b/e strings...inspired by John 5.

The speaking voice was performed by engineer/producer extraordinaire Jeffrey Cramer.

The entire production was recorded on Cubase Pro. My Line 6 HD75 was used for all guitar parts when studio-owned JCM-800 went down.

It's the first song in this link posted below: - "Everlasting God."

Thanks for your input!!!!

Not too bad, considering how much momentum we lost during the first part of Covid-19 when we were not working.

The song was uploaded late Saturday night and received over 2,000 plays yesterday.

It has netted over 550 plays today alone, by 7:05am PST.

Outfall is largely original material. Occasionally, they will cover a Christmas song at the holiday . Last year we covered (basically completed a project left for us by another exiting guitarist) Hark The Herald Angel's Sing, which did well, netting over 40,000 plays per day for over 2 weeks.

I threw them a curve today and suggested "Humanity" by Scorpions as this year's cover project.

Let's see what they say...

Sorry, but Christian and Rock should never be used in the same sentence.

Rock and Roll has always, and should always remain the work of the devil (if you believe in that stuff).

I enjoy helping these bands out, regardless of the religious aspects. Just about every project I'm involved with is prosperous and I keep a super positive work outlook.

Here's today's stats as of 3:25pm PST showing almost 6,000 streams and nearly 2 million total plays...and we are currently working on a new LP.

Ok, folks...

For those of you that dig original music and are not offended by religious content, we have a new song out.

Released yesterday as a demo, 'Wordrunner' is the story of Bible smugglers in the post-apocalyptic era where possession of bibles is an offense punishable by death.

The demo received 2,354 plays worldwide in its first 4 hours of release.

We used a Taylor acoustic for the intro parts with a Takamine 12 string being used for punctuation on certain key phrases.

The volume swell/violin effect was played on my Schecter Hellraiser C1FR.

My Yello Mustang appears as the 'engine sound' between the 1st and 2nd halves of the song, where the transition takes place.

Rhythm guitar sections were played on my Schecter Hellraiser C1FR and Slash Les Paul Replica. There are 7 rhythm tracks, each panned to different percentages, between 40% and 80% respectively. Amp used for the rhythm parts was the studio's JCM800 2204 into a 600 pound isolation box with 3 mics (AKG, Blue and SM57) used in decca-tree configuration.

I played two, doubled bass tracks on a Fender Geddy Lee Signature (studio owned) panned at 40% left and right. I played with a Fender medium pick.

All solos were played on my Schecter Hellraiser C1FR through a Line 6 Spider 2 HD-75 with no FX. Each solo was doubled in real time.

Recording was done in Cubase Pro. A BBE Sonic Maximizer and Eventide/Manley equipment was also used.

Although I'm just a hired member, I'm given the latitude to compose all my own solos. The goal with my solos in this song was to give the impression that each of the three Solos was played by a different guitarist.

Of course, all critiques are welcome...
